On Oct 24, 2004 we had an order filled in our home for laminate flooring. We had six months same as cash to pay for it interest free. Unfortunately the floor has not held up long enough for us to make our first payment. In January I noticed what seem to be a swelled seam in our entranceway. A few weeks later another appeared by the dishwasher. I contacted Mr. Edward Traynor with a formal complaint and made arrangements for him to inspect the floor.
He wrote us back in a letter informing us the swelled areas were due to water being left on the floor or even possibly pet urine. I then phoned Mr. Traynor again informing him we do not allow our pets to urinate on the floor let alone to leave it lay there and I was offended. I figured since the floor was only three months old it should be replaced in those swelled areas after all it is a kitchen and there is going to be some water occaionally hit the floor. He rudely replyed he intended on doing nothing to remedy this matter it was our fault for the damage and a sorry about your luck attitude. Over the next week two new swelled areas appeared on our new floor making that four spots in less than five months. My husband then contacted Mr. Traynor hiself conserning the same issue.
He agreed to examine the floor once again this time with the salesman and the flooring distributor. This was useless the salesman never showed up and the other two had no intenstion on fixing our floor. It only led to total frustation on behlf of my husband and myself. We also pointed out about some damage done to our walls when the crew tore up the old trim and that when laying a wood floor the seams should be staggered or brick layed so they don't appear close to each other. He did not like this and rudely shouted to my husband and I he would fix the one area by the dishwasher that was the only area and he had better not hear from us again. He then stormed out our front door leaving the embarrassed distributer and saying let's get out of here. This left us in total disbelief how a customer who just spent 2,366.00 in his store could be treated so unprofessionaly and unfair.
The board repair was scheduled for March 30, 2004 at ten am. Our thought were that all the spots be repaired not just one why tear the whole floor apart and not fix it all. Give it some time to see if this happens again possibly we had a box of defective wood. The distributor took a peice on wood for testing but of course never a response. We considered installing a tile floor with Traynor and paying the differance. He would not agree to this either saying he would be happy to install the new floor but we would have to pay for it and the removel of the old wood floor. So we still have our new floor with four swollen areas. Making payments to the credit card company whom which we tried to dispute our charge with. paying interest for a floor we are not happy with.
Mr.Traynor's argument is we abused the floor with water. If a few drops of water from washing our hands or loading the dish washer is abuse then yes we have and were clearly misguided in what type of floor should go in such areas. If a large amount of water was left standing on the floor as he cliams then it would have been a larger area disturbed not a corner here and there. I filed a complaint with the Maryland home improvement commissoner and am waiting for a trail date. If no resolution comes of this than I at least want other consumers to beware of this man and his lack custmoer service and professionalism. I would not let Traynor's floors and carpet install carpet in my dog's house let alone anyone I know ever again. This to me has been a RIP OFF!!!
Sincerely,
Teresa

Experience with Traynors

It sounds like there are a couple of bad experiences here and each is very unfortunate. I do not want to diminish the existing posts, but do want to comment that I've had an excellent experience with Traynor's installing Mohawk berber on an entire floor in my previous home in Catonsville, MD in 2003. My dealings with Traynor's surrounding that order were satisfactory and the installer was on-time, professional, and completed the install quicker than antipicated. I have to admit that I don't think I ever dealt directly with the owner(s) of Traynor's, so I can't comment on communications/professionalism of the owner(s).
My wife's sister and brother-in-law currently live there, so I can verify that the carpet is still as taught as the day it was installed and, due to the quality of the Mohawk berber, is still in great condition.

Traynor's Floors And Carpet Claim went to court Westminster Maryland
UPDATE: The Coale Claim:
Well, Edward Ross Trayor the crook he is finally reimbursed us the total amount for our laminate floor. After James' rebuttal comment about no one sideing with us (due to standing water) and their 33 years of experience. I felt compelled to update everyone on the situation. Perhaphs James should be more careful before he post something he knows NOTHING about.I am sure they assumed they got off scott free and were quite smuge in their statement about not pleasing me.The Maryland home improvement committee held a 2nd meeting on June 15 2006 which Traynor's decided to show up for. The 1st meeting last Dec they chose not to show for claiming they were away. Or was it they knew nothing about the meeting???
Although a letter was sent certified mail and was signed for. They changed their story several times when caught in a lie. Traynor's Floors and Carpet lie and cheat and will do nothing for a customer until made to do so by the law.
Interesting...Traynor's attorney approached us with a tempting offer. Mr.Traynor was willing to pay us the full amount right there the day of the hearing if we left before our case went up for review by the board. Oh and we must remove our comments from this web site...uummm... Let me think..... NOOOOOOOOO!!!You made us wait 2 years for any resolution and even if we got nothing in return. People will know how unprofessional you are, your lack of customer service, and that you are a very RUDE man with a flaming temper. Not to mention I wanted you to pay your lawyer by the hour to set their with you until it was our turn.
We had nothing to loose by this point the floor had been paid for for 2 years and the DLLR was very interested in what we had to say. You see there was no water damage like you claim. It was a poor a*s product and not properly installed by YOUR company. After all the board affirmed the finding in our case to be correct and awarded us the entire amount to be paid in full. Which was done so by the State of Maryland's DLLR. Now Traynor's can either reimburse the DLLR or get their liscense suspended by the state. And that would be in the best interest for all future consumers.
You see when I kindly asked you the 1st time to fix my floor you should have graciously done so and I wouldn't be writing this letter for many future prospects to see......I was always taught it is much harder to make a good name for yourself than a bad name. Unfortunately, you were never taught manners at the least and if you even learned a lesson you did so too late!!!!!
Completely satisfied,
Teresa

Re:The patricia complaint submitted 1/15/2005.I am sorry for your bad experience.traynor's floors has checked our records and have not found a match to the name patricia or your complaint.we would like to take this opportunity to get more information.the condition of your carpet could be caused by a couple of factors, delamination of the backing from the face of the carpet that might be covered under your factory warranty, could be an installation problem which the retailer could repair or the result of too much cleaning solution used that would cause delamination of the carpet. please contact us . thank you.

Traynor's Floors and carpets has responded to the following agencies in this matter, Maryland Home Improvement Commission(Dept. of Labor& Licensing and Regulation), Office of The Attorney General (Consumer Protection Division)and Card Services (G E Retail finance Customer Dispute Dept. and BHK Uniclic laminate factory representative. None of these agenices have sided with Mrs. Coale. Traynor's installed the laminate floor correctly and the floor is performing like it should. The laminate flooring has been exposed to standing water per the BHK factory representative and our 33 years of installing floorcovering.Traynor's has addressed Mrs. Coale situation in a timely matter and replaced several damaged boards at no cost to her despite the fact that this was not a warranty issue. Traynor's Floors and Carpets is sorry we can not satisfy Mrs.Coale

Its not up to installers to determine if you have a plumbing leak.

I am a former district manager for Armstrong Flooring and a former sales rep for Mohawk Carpets. First of all when you have a leak you have an insurance claim. Its not up to installers to determine if you have a plumbing leak. Laminate floors or for that matter most any floor will react negatively to water. Standing water from above or below will cause laminate to swell. I don't know what price point this product was but the problem was determined to be a leak and laminate is not warranted against this type of problem. I'm sorry you had a problem but its not the carpet stores responsiblilty. To the other poster, wrinkling in carpet is most likely caused by improper installation. Were the installers provided by the store? If they were its easy enough to restretch the carpet.

I was also royally ripped off by Traynor Floors & Carpet
AUTHOR: Patricia - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Saturday, January 15, 2005
I had the misfortune of using Traynor to install wall-to-wall carpet in my entire townhouse to the tune of $4,300. In less than 2 years the carpet began to ripple and I called and reported the problem and expected it to be repaired. No call back. I wrote a letter - still no response. I called back again and was rudely told "my problem" not theirs.
Every single room of carpet is a mess and I don't have 5 kids so it's not heavy traffic. The carpet was poor quailty or dry rot. The installation was obviously not done properly and I've had to ive with this carpet continuing to ripple and buldge. I can actually trip over it in certain areas. I'm 54 and have had lots of carpet in my time - never an experience like this. I didn't know it was possible for carpet to behave in this manner. And who can afford to spend $4300 on carpet after only 2 or 3 years of a brand new installation.
This company is by far the worst of the worst in every consumer respect. In fact, they are thieves in my opinion and should be thrown in jail for taking money in exchange for a garbage product they call carpet. I hope others see this report and go elsewhere - Traynor's has no business being in business.
