I worked for this company for over a year working 52-60 hours a week doing more than sales, customer service, training, supervising, opening and closing the doors, taking out garbage, cleaning the office, taking phonecalls on my off hours to assist other employees and basically picking up the slack when the owner and office manager were out at rally's, meetings and trips with no raise, no vacation and no pat on the back. I was taken advantage of. As a matter of fact, the owner refuses to cooperate with unemployment and/or any public assistance that my family and I may be in need of. Unemployment is due me because it's money that I deserve and have put in.
"You will need me before I need you" is simply the statement that the arrogant owner, Rob Terwilliger, lives by but he doesn't realize how great his company would be if he would get off his high horse and treat people like humans. Yes, this company leads you to beleive that you are making this great career move but the reality is that they are nothing more than a scam to get you in the door, put you through a 2 day training period, release you to practice on friends and family then kick you out the door...hoping to have made some money off of you over the weekend with sales from friends and family. It's all about the money and keeping the selfish owner happy.
If you schedule an appointment for a free carpet cleaning, please don't rearrange your schedule because you will more than likely get blown off if your house isn't in the right neighborhood or if your house doesn't look like it's worth anything. They tell you "we are offering a free carpet cleaning as a way of advertising our product" then they push and push and degrade customers who don't have the credit or the cash to pay. In the end they will dog you for not buying a Kirby from the salesman. They lie, they cheat, they scam, they manipulate and they take advantage of everyone.
Kirby is a wonderful product but buying one from the Toledo office will only cause you financial stress and frustration.
Working for the Trebor Distributing, Inc., the Toledo office of Kirby, will only bring you heartache, self doubt and frustration and will more than likely help you to go completely bankrupt as you will probably never get paid what they claim you will make in the ads. I don't know of anyone who has actually gotten paid what they were promised.
All of the other Kirby distributors are great to work for and great to deal with, as far as I know, but Trebor in Toledo....
Do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY from Trebor Distributing, Inc.!
Been there done that

I did not fall for this

I saw an ad in the local newspaper a few
years back for Trebor, Inc. Desperately needing a job, I called the
number, and the woman on the phone gave me an address and a time. I
asked what the ad was for, and she refused to tell me.
So I got
dressed up, spent ten dollars on gas, and went to the address given to
me. I arrived twenty minutes early, and was given a packet to fill out.
I asked the receptionist was this was for, and again, I was told that
it will be explained to me. Moments later, a fat man with coffee
stained teeth came out, and I asked him. His reply was insanely rude.
When
it was finally my turn for an interview, I noticed various plaques on
the wall, mostly for "Highest sales in Kirby vacuum cleaners." My
mother fell victim to this kind of scam; Rainbow basically forced her
to buy a $3,000 vacuum because she didn't make enough sales.
The
fat man told me that I had the potential to have millions of dollars,
get week-long trips to exotic locations, gold watches, etc. I didn't
show up for the orientation the next day.
Anyone who defends this company is obviously an employee, and must be making enough money and doing
something "right" to be kissing the behinds of these criminals. It was
never about who does the hardest work. It is about becoming aligned
with a business that works like a cult. It is about becoming a
sycophant, and cementing the dominance of a corrupt corporate theatre.
You are being played for all of your money, worth nothing more than a
pawn. All the world is a stage.
