These poeple claim to have the number one rated product for anti-virus. Yet it cannot detect and prevent a virus. It tells you that you have a virus but it cannot clean, delete or quaranteen the virus. You are on you are on your own to eliminate the virus. I had this program for two weeks and got two trojan virus' and it could not clean them. When I called their office NOT FREE as they state on their package, I was laughed at. This company stinks, their employess stink. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT ----BUYER BEWARE.

#3 Consumer Suggestion

Anti-virus is not the way to go here.

I've tried most of the leading AV products. I've tried dedicated firewall products. The search and destroy freebie downloads. Even the top products from Norton.

None of them work. Now, before you get the wrong idea, let me explain something. They probably did work at one time. Until the hackers engineered a way around them.

You build a wall. The hackers buy a ladder. You put up a fence. The hackers dig a tunnel.

How can you win like that?

There's a better way. After 10 formats, I figured it out.

First, don't risk your main computer on the internet. That's crazy. Use a second computer just for the internet. It can be a cheap, older model.

Next, partition the hard drive. Divide it in half. Set up windows on C. You only need windows to surf, so don't go adding every program you own. Once you have it set up and working right, back it up to D, the other half of the drive.

Now surf like normal. Search for free porn. That's always good for finding a virus. Once the virus is on the computer, go to backup. Use the restore part. Restore the system state and the C drive. Be sure to overwrite all the existing files. Hit begin.

About 30 minutes later, it's right back to good again. Virus is gone. Windows is working perfectly again. It works for all problems. Viruses, worms, Trojans, and hijackers.

The reason it works is because the system is returned to it's original state. There's nothing to delete. No virus files to scan for. No remnants of virus to worry about. The computer is like brand new again.

I surf where I want. I don't have to use any virus software. Yet, at the first sign of a problem, I'm right back to brand new again.

This virus problem used to take all the fun out of the internet. That's all in the past. Now, the fools who make the viruses are the only ones who are wasting their time.

Me? I'm at 95% uptime with no fear of surfing anywhere. This is what the internet should be!

I have had trend products both on my home network and my place of business (I am a system administrator). I have NEVER had a problem with it. I have used MacAffee and Norton and had numerous issues with both.

The trick with Trend is to go into your system setup (from the Trend menu) and tell it to DELETE files (not "attempt to clean" or "quarrantine") and it should work fine.

Also for the files that are quarrantined on your harddrive, if you go into the Trend menu again there is a tab named "System" and in that menu is an option called "Quarrantine" and if you go into that option it will let you delete those files.

I love ripoffreport and think this forum is ideal for consumers to research products but I wanted to offer to those that see this report that while the original poster had a bad experience with the product that I have had nothing but good.
