I applied for a loan with Roadloans because my fiance' had used them and it seemed to be okay. I bought the vehicle and made payments as agreed. In the first three months we moved and things were crazy, papers will still in storage and we were just getting our finances organized with our new mortgage and everything. After my third payment I started getting phone calls that I missed a payment, and they kept tacking on late fees and stuff. I couldn't understand what was going on and thought that I had lost my mind! Before I could even start to dig up copies of proof of my payments, the tow truck guys show up and take the van without warning. (On a Friday so you can do nothing until Monday after 3 days of storage fees.) The tow company said I was 3 months behind on my payments.

I knew it wasn't true and called Triad first thing Monday. The person wouldn't even listen to me, and refused to let me talk to a supervisor and said one would contact me, which one never did. I told them I could get copies of the checks from the bank but it would take a few days, they said too bad, I had to pay off the whole loan up front ($14,000) or I couldn't get the van back. They wouldn't even take 3 months of payments right then and there, and I even agreed to pay towing and storage and they still said no. Then they told me they were going to sell it at an auction for "1/2 the price and make me pay the rest". Well, I could not refinance the car in time and I lost it.

The sad thing is I was later able to prove that I HAD made the payments but because I used a check with his and my name on it, they had applied the payments to his account. Of course they didn't ask him why he was making double payments, and they refused to return the money to my account, bring it to good standing and return my van. They only took the money from his account AFTER my van was gone for good, and then they moved the money from his account to my "delinquent" account and then charge him "prorated" late fees (we didn't make payments on his account for 2 months after we found out what had happened because we had overpaid so much) back to the day that they misposted the payments.

It's so crazy I can't even explain what happened. I just know that my fiance paid $80.00 in late fees AND I am out a vehicle with a bad mark on my credit. AND now they are coming after me for the difference of what they sold it for.

If anyone has had a similar experience I would love to hear about it and hear what we can do. All I want at this point is to be free from them and have my credit repaired to where it was before this whole fiasco.

I got screwed too!
