Silas Pierce, of Tropic Estate Sales in Florida, is about as bad as they come. My family was looking for an estate sale business to assist us in selling my father's belongings after he suffered a severe stroke and was diagnosed with cancer within a short period of time. During this difficult time, dealing with the recent events with my father, we were hard pressed to figure this out since we have never had to deal with this before. My mother found Silas Pierce, of Tropic Estate Sales, who seemed very interested in the sale. We got the contract from him, all the info, and told him that we would definitely go ahead with his services once we had removed the personal items my father wanted to keep.

Mr. Pierce only seemed to care about making his money, he repeatedly called and wanted to move ahead with the sale right away, and continued to ask about the contract. The family, being extremely busy and also dealing with our father's health were not able to get back out to the house for a month, yet Mr. Pierce continued to want to move forward, not listening to the family's wishes.

I finally sent an email to Silas Pierce letting him know that we were not ready to move forward at this time, but would do so at the end of January. I apologized for not getting back to him and explained the situation. I thanked him for his patience and looked forward to working with him. In return, Silas Pierce sent about as arrogant as an email he could possibly send to me, which I have detailed below.

"MR. XXXXXXXXX,

SORRY YOU FEEL I HAVE USED QUESTIONABLE TACTICS TO OBTAIN YOUR FATHERS ESTATE SALE ! QUITE FRANKLY I DO NOT NEED YOUR FATHERS ESTATE SALE. I HAD FELT SORRY FOR YOUR FATHER DUE TO HIS HEALTH AND FORECLOSURE ISSUES. AFTER ALL THE ESTATE DID NOT MEET OUR STANDARDS!

WE HAVE BEEN HELPING WITH LOVED ONES ESTATE SALES FOR 25 YEARS. MY STAFF AND I DO NOT WANT TO WORK WITH TROUBLEMAKERS . YES, YOU DO STAND EXACTLY WHERE YOU WERE WHEN YOUR MOTHER FIRST FOUND US, WITHOUT AN ESTATE SALE!.

WE DEAL WITH JUDGES, COURTS, AND PROBATE EVERYDAY AND ARE ASSIGNED BY TRUSTEES WITH MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR ESTATES AND HAVE NEVER RECEIVED SUCH AN ARROGANT LETTER AS THE ONE YOU HAVE E-MAILED TO OUR OFFICE. ALL THE ESTATE SERVICES IN THIS AREA WORK WITH EACH OTHER, AS I WILL SHARE YOUR E-MAIL WITH THEM.

SILAS
GOOD LUCK ! I DO HOPE YOUR LIFE GOES BACK TO NORMAL."

Silas Pierce lost a customer with this email and hopefully many more. There are many more reputable estate sale companies in the area and I am pretty sure they would be happy to have the business. Silas Pierce needs to learn some courtesy and respect when dealing with a family going through a difficult time, not practicing standards that make him only take sales because he "felt sorry for us".

The amusing thing is that Silas Pierce said I was arrogant because I let him know we could not move forward at this time, yet he seems to not understand the definition of arrogance, or did not read his own email to me. And he callously "hopes my life goes back to normal." Yes, Mr. Pierce, I do wish my life could go back to normal, that my father's health would restore and that I wouldn't have to deal with arrogant idiots trying to make money and not serving the families they promise to help.

If in the central Florida area and are looking for an estate sale company, go with someone else. Silas Pierce of Tropic Estate Sales is a joke and should not be trusted.

Really? The proof speaks for itself...

Not that I really want to waste my time rehashing something that happened nearly 3 years ago, but the amusing recent response makes it seem too easy. "Anonymous" the investigator of claims almost 3 years old must be trying to spin some positivity to this poor company. I stand by my original post and would point to support of not only the unprofessional rebuttal of the company owner, but to the comment thereafter about the practices of the company, another Ripoff Report listing, as well as the negative reviews and posts against Tropic Estate Sales and Silas Pierce posted on Scam Informer and the Yellow Pages. Most telling, however, is the Better Business Bureau rating of "F" given to this company. That's right, a BBB rating of F.

I like how it looks like he was responding to an email you sent to him, and you apparently were arrogant in a letter when all he was trying to do was have an estate sale for you and after speaking with Mr. pierce (his number was at tropicestatesales.com he said you never came to a conclusion when to hold an estate sale so don't blame a business owner for being unable to do his job because of you're own problems,at least he tried to help you with the services he offers and for you to make him out to be dishonest or anything less than charitable is just plain untrue, you obviously are seeking to discredit someone whom you never actually even had a contract with therefore you cant even complain about his service having never actually rendered such. Though I would have read the email you sent him before he mailed you that, I can only assume you were as much of a negative Nancy as in you're opening statement. God forbid someone who owns a business that he relies on to want to sign a contract in order to keep things moving or for you to decide you don't need his help and not have to resort to this kind of thing. Just my observation from a little investigation. -Anonymous

I hate to admit it but Silas Pierce is a family member of mine and when he has estate sales we call them "ESTATE STEALS". I have witnesses him with my own eyes loading up his red truck (with the broken out window ) with stuff that him and his family members wanted before the sale even started and a uhaul after to take care of what was left over he wanted. He is a crook, liar, dishonest person. he is always in a lawsuit with someone every since i can remember, thats pretty sad, i have a business of my own and have never had a complant . SOMEONE NEEDS TO PUT A STOP TO ROBERT SILAS PIERCE. he is hurting people and there families . Silas if you read this you are pathetic person and need to get a life and stop taking whats not your!!! I think some of these cases would be crimes on the elderly.

SILAS PIERCE AND TROPIC ESTATE SALES HELPING WITH YOUR LOVED ONES ESTATE SALES FOR 25 YEARS

AUTHOR: Silas Pierce Tropic Estate Sales - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, January 18, 2009

We at TROPIC ESTATE SALES are always reaching out and helping those in need, as in this case WITH THE NICKOLAOU FAMILY NO MONEY WAS TO BE MADE.

Three months ago I did meet with Audery after she had called asking for our services. We did meet at her ex-husbands home. The home was dirty ,cluttered, and not worth much and knowing NO MONEY WAS TO BE MADE,however Audery confessed she had 3 other estate sales people out to the home but, wanted us to help. Aduery explained to me her ex-husband had a stroke and the home was in FORECLOSURE were as the family needed the money badly to help pay his BILLS. Well, I did feel sorry for the family and agreed to provide our services at a LOSS.
We set a time to do the sale in three weeks or before Christmas. Audery let me know before we set the date her son needed to get some items out of the home as they were using it for storage.I did call Audery once before Christmas and she informed me the sale was still on but would not give me a date. So I waited until after Christmas and moved all my sales around, once again I called Audery she then gave me her sons name and phone number informed me HE will set the date.I did call ANDREW NICKOLAOU NO ANSWER I called two more times with NO ANSWER.A week later I then called Audery NO ANSWER so I left a message that we are booked for the next two months and they would need to find another estate sale service.

Then ANDREW sends email making UNFOUNDED accusations that we pray on sick people in order to OBTANING estate sales. ANDREW never had a contract with TROPIC ESTATE SALES and we never asked for one. TROPIC ESTATE SALES never provided any service for THE NICKOLAOU FAMILY and the report they made is considered a HOAX.

ANDREW NICKOLAOU is a trouble maker who makes his POOR sick father suffer each day he postpones his fathers estate sale,as a son he needs to get up off his ARROGANT a*s and sell his fathers estate before the bank throws it out in the street. SILAS PIERCE
