I have been receiving multiple daily calls from TRS Recovery Services, aka Telecheck in Houston, TX for several months. They call as early as 6 AM and as late as 10 PM. They sometimes are on the line and ask for me, and other times they wait until I answer and then they hang up. Sometimes I hear typing, other times I will answer with "Which company is this?" and they will begin to say "TRS Rec" and then they will either say "Goodbye" or just abruptly disconnect. Calling them back leads to them giving you another number to call, 1-800-366-2425, which ony routes you back to the same people. Most of their calls block caller ID, so it comes up "Unknown Name, Unknown Number".

I have been able to get someone to look up my phone number a few times and they tell me that my debt has been paid by redepositing the check automatically, and then they hang up. The calls continue. Tonight a rep named Ashley began using profanity, told me that she wasn't in the department that does outbound calls, and there wasn't anyone there who could help me. She said "just pay your bills and we'll stop calling".

I have filed complaints with both the Houston Better Business Bureau and the Texas Office Of Attorney General. I am not sure how they get away with their telephone harassment, as I was under the impression that they always had to inform who they call that they are attempting to collect a debt. I was told tonight that my number is in their auto-dialer permanently, and that when my call comes up on their computer screen, the reps see the note that says that I have asked them to cease all telephone contact, so they hang up. She said that the automated calls will continue forever, however, and there is nothing that they can or will do. She said if I didn't like it I could change my number. Plain and simple.

I am shocked that companies such as Amazon.com, Wal Mart, Waldenbooks, and others would use this company, and I plan on letting each know how unprofessional they are, and how they manipulate customer's checking accounts and harass them by phone.

While I have no experience with so-called bill collectors calling me, I have had sales calls that would not stop. I have ended these calls by subscribing to "call block" from our telephone company. You can either enter the offending telephone number into the system or push the codes given to activate this service in order to block the last number that called. If the call block can't be used because the number comes up as "unavailable" or "unknown" you can use a feature that blocks all calls with no number or name given for the caller ID. The called has to unblock their number in order for their call to ring into your home. Many telephone companies offer these features as part of a package deal. I got mine as part of a 25-feature package that was free.

We had a family member who owed money to a bank and the bank somehow got our number and called us constantly, even after I told them this was not a contact number for our family member. I contacted the FDIC (for banks) and they told me to get the name of the company and their city and state, then to tell them not to call me anymore. If they did call again I could report them to the Federal Trade Comission (FTC). There are very specific rules that collection agencies have to follow concerning time of day that calls can be made, information given to third parties, etc. Go to the FDIC or FTC web sites for these rules. I just Googled "debt collection" and found these sites. Good luck!
