We attended a catered event in Waco catered by a fabuluous company which employed two assistants from Labor Ready. My wife's and another woman's purse was stolen by two Labor Ready employees, swept into the trash as they were cleaning up and rifleled through, who confessed later to the Waco Police Department.
Labor Ready, who are "Self Insured" provided is with obscure claim forms and the Risk Management Supervisor, Tony Brown, was never available and never returned calls. I spoke with his supervisor Stacy Shields who advised me that they would follow-up and needed to process information from the Waco office.
These people are a joke. Stacy Shields told me tonight that they are denying the claim because their contract requires that their customer "supervise" their employees for the duration of their services!
Okay, so if you are going to hire a Labor Ready employee, and you can not 100% of the time have a person "supervising" them, any misconduct or illegal activity that takes place is your fault and your responsibility.
If you hire this firm, you may as well consider them an uninsured liability. You are placing yourself at uninsured risk or relying on your own insurance to cover them. But worse, they are prepared to defend criminal behavior from their "screened" employees with the pathetic defense of denyability.
If your ever considering doing business with this firm consider that you may be hiring essentially uninsured criminals that not only lack screening and background checks, but people who would not hesitate to steal from your customers.
Normally a person that is a victim of theft by an employee who confesses to the police has reasonable recourse to the employee's employer. Normally. This company is an exception to corporate responsibility in my opinion and exhipits loathsome respect of its customers and the public at large.
My recommendation to anyone considering hiring this company's temporary staff is: do not! It is your reputation that they carelessly disregard.
