I recently was scammed by World Benefits. I was told that I was going to recieve a Visa for a 2,000.00 credit limit for a fee of 299.00. The money was taken out of my account on 12/1/2003. The rep I spoke to assured me that my card would come in the mail 15 days after the money had been drawn from my account.

On 1/19/04 I recieved a package for credit help. When I called the first time after recieving the package I spoke to someone and asked what this was. I informed the rep that I had paid for a credit card and did not understand what this was. The rep put me on hold, came back about 5 min. later and assured me that I would recieve my application for my card and would not have to pay anymore money for this card.

After tring to locate the website to access my benefits, I found that there was no such site. I then found this site and relized I had been scammed. So, I called the customer service number and asked for a refund of my money. She began to argue with me and told me that I was told that the fee was not refundable. I was never told that the fee was not refundable. In fact, in the package that I recieved today it stated that I had 15 days to recieve a refund of my transaction. The exact words read " You may cancel this order without any penalty or obligation within fifteen days from delivery of our Trust benefits package" " If you cancel within this fifteen (15) day period, the entire payment made to you for this membership will be returned within ten days after reciept by Trust Benefits of your notice of cancellation."

Now according to this information I was sent you would think that I was able to recieve a refund for this money, but the woman who argued with me told me that I was not able to recieve a refund. In fact, she stated that thier company does not offer any refunds and they were certainly not going to start with me. Why would they do this for 1 customer and nobody else, she continued. I would advise anyone who gets contacted by someone from this company to run far away, hang up, or just don't answer your phone. I got scammed but perhaps you won't
