I brought my old Compaq laptop to TTS Business Products at 325 Nassau Blvd. in Garden City South to have a new fan and hinges installed. I provided hinges (some internet site sold me 2 used hinges for $80); fan I purchased from HP. Owner of TTS Business Products (Anthony P Casillo) did not have any parts.
He(Anthony) 'technician' took the laptop and handed me paper that said "bench fee" $100.00. I asked him what that was, some woman behind counter said I had to pay that; I refused. This 'bench fee'was supposed to be deducted from final cost of repair.(never was)
When my unit was 'ready' I paid around $200.00 even though I provided all parts; also 'bench fee' was never deducted from my final cost.
When I got home I inspected unit; cover was wobbly and loose and there were 4 or 5 deep scratches on top of unit(metal cover) I asked 'Tony' why he scratched up unit, he said he did not do that; he is very careful and works on $2,000.00 machines all the time; he also said he has been fixing laptops for 25 years (Did they have laptops 25 years ago; I think not!)
Anyway way, after a few weeks, unit was more lopsided then before so I took it back to him. He told me (after supposedly taking unit apart) that the hinge broke off- he asked me 'what did I do to it?'
Anyway this guy is a scumbag and I would advise everyone Not to take any computer into this shop. The guy is incompenent and your unit will be all filthy (lcd all filthy) and scratched up when you get your unit back more screwed up them before you brought it in.

In checking our company records, we don't have a customer by the name of Mike in Long Beach. I guess you need to hide behind a fictitious name. But we know who you are. I'm insulted by the personal attacks made in your complaint, I don't believe that's what this web site is about, but those who read this can form their own opinion of what you're about. As far as the repair is concerned, to sum it up, we installed parts (hinges and cooling fan) that you purchased elsewhere. We even helped you identify the correct hinges, when the other company shipped you the wrong hinges (in the end they shipped you used hinges). I can't account for why the replacement hinge broke, but I can't be held responsible for someone else's used parts that failed. This is something you should take up with the company that sold them to you. We did everything we promised to do, and everything we could to accommodate you, but nothing satisfied you, you did nothing but complain, from the first time you entered our store (that includes falsely accusing me of scratching up the back of your display panel). I will keep copies of your cheap, personal attack of me at this site, and if you continue, I will take whatever legal action necessary against you.
