Tuffy muffler cross threaded spark plugs blew out while driving Portage Michigan

This Facility performed a tune-up on my wife's 06 Freestar. While changeng the spark plugs, the mechanic managed to cross tread the center rear plug. This must have caught his attention because he failed to properly seat the other two plugs on the back side of the engine. The car ran with an occasional miss. I never checked their work and attributed this to dirty injectors,ect. this lasted about two years and finally the plug blew out while driving. We were on an out of state trip at this time. During the two years, this vehicle often stayed in my garage while my work took us to many other states, so the car did not accumulate a lot of miles before this happened. Miles or years do not eleminate the responsibility of shoddy workmanship. When this happened, we were in anouther State, far from home and friends.

I took the car to a Ford dealership ansd their mechanic wrote out what happened. He stated that all he could do is replace the stripped out head for a cost of over $3400.00. I found another mechanic that said he could fix the existing head with a heli-coil. This mechanic also stated on paper that the plug had been cross threaded and stripped out. The other two plugs showed rust half way down the threads, meaning that the threads were exposed to weather and not seated in the head. This mechanic repaired the car and we drove it across six states with no problem. His cost...$350.00...Ford dealership cost...$370.00...rental car...$280..Frustration and exasperation of being stranded in a strange town...unestimatable.

When I showed the papers to Rick at Tuffy, he informed me that the work was out of warranty...what warranty can you put on shoddy workmanship?? We can thank God that this company did not do the same type of workmanship on our brakes or tie rod ends resulting in an accident. I am out money,time and frustration due to negligence of a supposedly certified mechanic that should be trusted. Rick at Tuffy refused to re-imburse me for my costs to repair his mechanic's mistakes. As a master electrician, I am responsible for the proper wiring in your home, that I work on. Your safety is my job...I wonder what Rick would do if I wired his house and two years later it burned down due to shoddy electrical work done by me??
