I had been a tutor for Dirk Wagner's company Tutorz.com from 2007-2014 until he was a complete jerk giving me misrepresentating leads and ripping me off several hundred dollars. He additionally likes to let customers write false complaints which he is liable for and has cost me some business. We used to take suggestions off of each other. There staff was great but decided to turn on me for no reason after two clients that didn't like me went to him and complained People's complaints are one thing but the other is tell the truth don't lie and deceive people. I would not recommend tutorz.com because of rude staff and the owner being a complete moron for letting other people post bogus stuff. I have been in business long enough I have had many more successes than failures. So Mr. Dirk Wagner needs to stop beating people down and grow up!

Scammer

AUTHOR: Gary - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, December 17, 2015

 This man gave me a sad sob story about no food and being evicted and asked for a $700.00 loan. He cashed the check that clearly stated loan on it. He has messaged me several time referring to the "loan" but when I asked him about paying back he got very nasty and ignorant with me. Called me names like he was in the 3rd grade. And threatened not to pay me back and said if I contact him he would come after me with harassment charges. Even said " it was a loan for less than $1,000.00 don't give it out if you don't have it!!" What kind of person says things like that? I would never do business with this man. Read his rebuttals and name calling. Stay clear of this person.

Testimonials and Endorsements
In general, advertising which uses testimonials or endorsements is likely to mislead or confuse if:

  • it is not genuine and does not actually represent the current opinion of the endorser;
  • it is not quoted in its entirety, thereby altering its overall meaning and impact;
  • it contains representations or statements which would be misleading if otherwise used in advertising;
  • while literally true, it creates deceptive implications;
  • the endorser is not competent or sufficiently qualified to express an opinion concerning the quality of the product or service being advertised or the results likely to be achieved by its use;
  • it is not clearly stated that the endorser, associated with some well-known and highly-regarded institution, is speaking only in a personal capacity, and not on behalf of such an institution, if such be the fact;
  • broad claims are made as to endorsements or approval by indefinitely large or vague groups, e.g., "the homeowners of America," "the doctors of America";
  • an endorser has a pecuniary interest in the company whose product or service is endorsed and this is not made known in the advertisement.

Advertisers should consult Federal Trade Commission Guides on Testimonials and Endorsements for detailed guidance.

You have violated a law and code of ethics of business. You will be sued for the amount of damgaes for a high amount if you do not comply with bbb. You need to seperate your company issues with mine or else sir!

Thomas,

I did some more digging and I found that we CAN contact this company regarding your testimonial as part of our Advertising Review program.  This means that we will process the issue, as opposed to you having to file a complaint.  Since the company is accredited by the BBB, they must abide by our Code of Advertising - http://www.bbb.org/santa-barbara/for-businesses/code-of-advertising/#thing

If the company does comply with the code, the issue is not a matter of record but I don't think that is an issue for you anyway.

Thanks for letting us know and sorry I didn't recognize this option sooner.  We don't run accross this very often.

I would recommend Mr. K. to anyone needing a tutor. He works very well with students that have learning disabilities. He prepares himself very well before each session. He was my tutor when, as a non-traditional student, I went back to college to further my education. I hadn’t been to school in 23 years and so much has changed, I needed assistance with subjects and I have learning and physical disabilities. Mr. K. always treated me professional and kindly. He was always prepared for our sessions and willing to answer all my questions and I had a lot of questions. I tend to get frustrated when I am unable to grasp material and not once did that deter this tutor. He was always prepared for our sessions portraying energy, dedication, and professionalism. He was a great help with my transition from disabled housewife to student. If you need help Mr. K. is the one to call. A very sound investment in your future.

Review of HowToLearn.com: Learn How to Deceit, Defraud and Insult

Trying to run ads with the educational advertiser HowToLearn.com I came to learn how to deceive, defraud and insult clients. Read on to hear my experience with Pat Wyman, CEO of HowToLearn (to Deceit, Defraud and Insult).com.

In March 2014 TutorZ.com approached the educational and learning site HowToLearn.com with a request for advertisement. At this point it looked very promising: HowToLearn’s focus on learning agrees with the tutoring purpose of TutorZ. The site looks well designed and some articles were quite informative. Moreover, in October 2013 TutorZ had already run a $200 ad for being named HowToLearn’s Top 101 Best Educational websites.

However, I should have been more cautious when HowToLearn’s CEO Pat Wyman persuaded me to buy an ad package for $5,000.  This package includes expert pages and Wyman highlighted expert Dr. Kathyring Seifert’s presentation which looks indeed promising.  Seifert – so Wyman claimed – receives most of the her traffic from HowToLearn.  Wyman explained that the participants could expect a doubling in web traffic. What a treat! Double traffic! Or so I thought because if something sounds too good to be true it probably is.  So be warned when Wyman – or any other sales person for that matter – makes fantastic promises.

In the first week of July 2014 when the expert campaign was running TutorZ received the true numbers: less than one percent (that is 0.88%) more traffic from HowToLearn – and that included the already paid traffic from last year’s Top Educational campaign and a new Best Tutoring sponsorship.  One percent is a far cry from the insinuated doubling in traffic.  To make matters worse, the quality of the traffic was poor also. Visitors clicked on average only 3 times on pages and the bounce rate was a whopping 68%. The table copied from Google Analytics shows this traffic data.

Not only the performance data was a let down but also working with Pat Wyman. She promised to aid client’s content presentation with advice and work.  In reality working with Wyman was for me a real pain the b… due to her ridiculous demands.  For example, emails to her (not customer content) must start in upper case followed by a colon and a reference line or else she would disregard them.  Wyman inundated me with lengthy and confusing instructions on how to submit content. When in her estimate my submission was insufficient she denigrated me by showing how links were to be edited and headlines are to be formatted. While I am certainly no expert in marketing, I am however a web developer who has worked the last 10 years on the web and feel insulted by her condescending teachings. Finally, after painstakingly presenting the information to Wyman’s demands the links on the web site where still not linked but worded: (link to: www.tutorz.com).

In exchange for expert page content with links, named a sponsor, one newsletter campaign and one press release we agreed upon a payment of $5,000. I already paid half ($2,500) in March 2014. TutorZ was named a sponsor of a list of Best Tutoring sites and received a back link. This ad worked quite well actually.  But no other feature was delivered, no newsletters, no press release not even direct links to tutorz.com. Outbound links would link first to HowToLearn and then be redirected to the target site. This practice is bad for SEO and bad for user speed. But when I brought up this topic Wyman did what she can do so well: to inundate me with my-way-or-the-highway prose.

Despite all my disappointments with Pat Wyman and HowToLearn I carried on hoping that the expert campaign would still yield some benefit. After all, $2,500 was already sunk. But when Wyman incidentally mentioned that a year later I was supposed to pay another $5,000 I collapsed. I was under the impression the expert pages were permanent just like the previous ads. I felt very much deceived. I could no longer go on with HowToLearn and Pat Wyman. When I asked for at least a partial refund of my $2,500 I heard more of the Wyman’s now familiar highway talk.

Now here I am, having been defrauded, deceived and insulted by HowToLearn CEO Pat Wyman. But at least I’ve learned to better deal with sales people of her kind:

One – If promises sound too good to be true, they probably are.

Two – Setup and contract describing in detail the promised services.
          Negotiate a refund if performance marks are not reached.

Three – Collect references from previous customers.

Four – Analyse similar ad presentation to spot problems such missing direct links.

      John, “misled” is putting it mildly. A better word is perhaps “scammed”. In any case I’ve learnt the lessons how to better protect my investments in ads in general and about Pat Wyman/HowToLearn in particular.

    despite the bad experience and the money spend, it seems like you really learned how to spot “Too good to be true” situations. Hope this will help others in similar situations

    You like to blame your failures on other people. Plus, your power of greed to use my name in an article to make me look bad. People like you don’t deserve to run businesses if you want to run other people down. Before you start looking at other people’s mistakes, you better start looking at yourself because it takes a scum bag like yourself to hear one side and not another.

Dirk, you started it and I'm finishing it. The students that made the rating were from another site. So, you need to get your information straight. You think they were fake letters tell my attorney that. You have false leads period. This is a complaint against you not me. You talk all you want dirk you sit there at 217 connections period. I stand well above at 900 some. You continue to say false stuff. All I wanted you to do was use a different tutor to represent your website and now your trying to fabricate something you had no knowledge about. Now, I would advise to stop using gossip and slander and false statements. This could be liable in court. So, you decide buddy what is best for you. You seem to be pretty smart but no common sense period!!

#1 REBUTTAL Owner of company

Warning! Thomas Kielbasinski, Somerset, PA is a tutoring fraudster, posts lies and makes students cry.

AUTHOR: James Meier - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, August 27, 2014
homas Kielbasinski of Somerset, PA has been a tutor at TutorZ.com.  He was very active on our site, receive many tutoring leads and in frequent contact with customer service. To recognize his strong participation our marketing director Dariya posted the following article about him: http://www.tutorz.com/blog/2012/10/tutorz-lands-you-big-potential-clients/

This page was later used independently by 6 of our students to complain about Mr. Kielbasinskie's incompetent and fraudulent actions.  TutorZ received many complaints about Mr. Kielbasinskie. These complaints included a high-level description of the mysql database when the task was to write mysql code. We had students crying on the phone about insulted and loosing $100 due to Mr. Kielbasinksie not-refund policy.  Many complains involved the situation when Mr.  Kielbasinskie asked student to pay upfront and then did not show up at the meeting. There was even one call from the police on behalf of a student who filed a police report.

To avoid further mistreated student we decided to disassociate us from Mr. Kielbasinskie and keep the 6 student complaints about him on http://www.tutorz.com/blog/2012/10/tutorz-lands-you-big-potential-clients/.  This prompted Mr. Kielbasinskie to go on a quest to discredit TutorZ in general and me in person.  He hired a collection agency, wrote fake lawyer letters, threatened me and my employees in emails and phone calls. And now this report on Ripoffreport.   I guess if he was busy with many

In summary, Mr. Kielbasinskie is danger to TutorZ, students and perhaps society as a whole.
 Should you have been thinking of getting tutoring from him, then you're lucky to have stumbled upon this ripoffreport
