Contacted Twin Cities Roofing for a Roofing job and Rick the sales guy came out and inspected the proper and stated the cost would be 4,900.00.  He also inpsected the attic wood for gaps to determine if the roofw ould need to be redecked and stated it looked good, however, there could be spots the city inspectoor insists on.

Roofing job starts and I get a call at work 30 minutes away that the whole house needs to be redeckedf or 2,500.00 as the city inspector was just there and advised of this.  I asked how far along the house was and they advised the whole roof was ripped off.  I inquired why the whole roof needed to be ripped off to determine this, but did not receive a solid answer.  My brother than drove over with his roofing guy (He remodels homes) and the 2,500.00 to redeck the house really, on a agood day, would cost 1,500.00.

he negotiated the scam artist down to 2,000.00.

I then contacted our local city inspector who then drove by my house and he said he had never been to my house and would never demand a home owner have to spend another 2,500.00 for redecking.

My recommendation is find another Roofing Company and be there when they tear the roof off and contact your city inspector to be there too.

On top of that they ripped the satellite dish off the roof on a friday, didn't tell me that they wouldn't be coming back for the entire weekend, and did not communciate to me when the roofing job would be done.

Owner, Jim, listened to my complaints and advised he would send a letter of apology, all I got was the bill.

I just noticed this was posted on "Rip Off Report" As a licensed and reputable roofing contractor in business over 35 years, and without the ability to analyze the roof deck before first removing the shingles, sometimes it becomes necessary to re-deck at an additional cost to protect the clients warranty as well as provide an install to code. Manufactures will not warrant their shingles if not installed over a suitable substrate. The decking charge if needed is clearly spelled out in the contract up front. No decking would have been installed without client acknowledgement. Please consider this my public apology. I do realize the additional charge causes frustration, this is why in this case we powered the additional charge.
