Palisade Collection Agency investigation Fox6 news investigative reporter John Mattes exposes Palisade like others exposed on Rip-off Report that sends out collection notices for alleged nonexistent bills threatening to ruin your credit. I received a letter dated 10/26/04 stating that they were collecting $200 from an AT&T Wireless account back in the 1990s. I called them immediately and told them that I've never used AT&T as my wireless carrier.

Regardless, they tried to cut a deal and said that they would settle for payment of just over $100 and this would be resolved. I declined and filled out their form to dispute this charge and asked for proof that this was a valid charge. I have not heard from them since.

Today I received a call from a potential employer saying that there was something in collection in my credit report and that it had been there since June 2004.

I contacted the collection agency three times until closing time today and was transferred to nearly a dozen people. Even so, I could not resolve this issue because apparently my file is in another department's desk and they are gone for the day.

I'm thankful to ripoffreport.com because now I can see that others have had similar problems with this company that just dodges the issue. I just filed a complaint against them with the FTC. I will contact the three credit agencies as well if I cannot resolve this with Palisade tomorrow.
