Absolutely the worst experience of our lives.
One of the biggest mistake of our lives. Not because its like burning 150 bucks, but because i never seen someone so rude, ill mannered and racist.
Instead of writing an essay - i will just quote some instance from the class and you can be your own judge. Additionally - i highly recommend that you search for more other similar complaints from several folks.
If you are a girl - to start with he will tell you that you are useless and not safe on the road
If you are a new rider and are having some trouble getting started - then you are going to ride a scooter - because he doesn't "have the time" to teach the techniques of balancing, which foot to rest on the ground etc etc.
Every slight mistake involved unnecessary rude behavior and threats to be kicked out - so you better not be one of the people who get nervous under pressure. There is no help available.
He will give you one demo and you better keep your mouth shut if you have questions - otherwise be prepared to be embarassed in front of others. why do you have a question if others dont. if you dont get it at first - then just get lost because others get it. how dare you not get it right on the first try.
"when i go over wooden logs i pretend these are immigrants - there are too many immigrants in my neighborhood"
a random brown guy was passing by and observing the class - " is that your family watching you and making you nervous"
additionally, if you are short, he only has cruisers with forward foot riding position - not very beginner friendly.
These are just a few examples. we are so annoyed that we dont even feel like writing more.
if you are starting from scratch and want to learn - i appeal to you that please stay away from this guy. he is unprofessional, unwilling to teach, and probably very frustrated with his life.
if he reads this - we will reply "Only a Fool argues with a Fool and will quote some made up feedback from his course evaluation. if you believe him, then go ahead and suffer through this class. if you want to learn in reality - pay $30 extra and go to a proper training institution.

The OP is obviously lying, BUT....
AUTHOR: Steve - (USA)
SUBMITTED: Wednesday, February 15, 2012
OK, so we know the OP is lying due to the "I wish these logs were immigrants" accusation. The guy might very well be a Texas redneck (what with all the Marine/God/Country/etc talk), but I don't care if you are David Friggin' Duke; nobody, but nobody, would say that, at least around people they do not know, and certainly not around an immigrant!! So I absolutely know the OP is full of it, even though I have never laid eyes on her or the instructor.
That being said, a good instructor should be able to teach just about anybody how to ride in a couple days, so he may not be the best teacher in the world. Then again, he may just have super-high standards when it comes to testing. While I generally think people should be able to do what they want if they know the risks, I can respect a guy who does not want to have blood on his hands for passing someone they shouldn't. A lot of MSF people become instructors because they have seen the effects of a bad motorcycle accident; I'd imagine that can change a man's views (I have never seen one).
To give you an idea of how important safety is to those of us who ride, when I took the intermediate MSF course, there was a waiting list months long - this is for a course that started at 7AM, and cost a decent amount of coin. We were all there willingly, because we knew how important safety is on a motorcycle. Can you ever imagine an existing car driver taking a drivers ed course without having a court order it? Heck, *I* took it, and to be honest I am a bit of a squid. Well, *was* a squid; the wife won't let me have a bike anymore. Hey, when you're whipped, you're whipped.
One thing I would like to know from the instructor - do you really only have foot-forward cruisers? For a beginners class? Are you f^&*ing kidding me? I am hoping this is another one of her lies, because that sounds like a terrible idea.
To the OP - I don't know anything about this instructor, but as far as I know you do not HAVE to pass an MSF course to ride; it just allows you to waive the DMV test. If you think you are ready to go, go ahead and take that one. But make sure you take it on the kind of motorcycle (weight/power/etc) that you plan to ride. However if *I* were you, I would take the course again (obviously with a different company) before riding. Even forgetting all the terrible things that can happen to you, you can easily spend more than $150 if you get into the most minor of accidents (repairs, deductible on a sprained ankle, whatever).
God, I miss riding. Maybe if I ask nicely my wife will give me at least one of my balls back.

Jim has saved this young lady's life...

Unfortunately the student in our class does not realize that Jim switches from teacher to examiner at the end of the second day. He scores each student on their own individual ability at the end of the course while they preform several tasks. If you pass then great; if not then it is obvious that you need to build on your skills more again before trying again.
I did not pass my first on road class C driving test. No problem?.. My dad spent more time with me and I took it again. If I would have just been turned loose on the road without proper driving skills then the state of Texas would have failed me as a taxpayer.
My son wishes to get his class M license in the upcoming months. He has only rode a motorcycle once. I have every confidence that Jim will teach him the proper skills he will need to ride on the road. If my son does not have the skills, then I have even confidence that Jim will fail my son and Jake will have to retake the test. My wife plans to ride after she fully recovers from her back surgery towards the end of 2012. Again - I will seek out Jim to provide the training and inform her if she is ready.
Our classmate was not ready and it was obvious to me and to at least the classmates that I spoke with during the class. I have zero doubt that she is smart and intelligent. But this does not make her ready to be on the road. During her time on the scooter she was clearly not ready for the road.
I do believe that businesses that ripoff individuals should be reported and this website is a great source for the consumer. But, this report is false and should be removed. Jim is hard and fair... If your able to ride by the end of the course you pass. If you are not able then he fails you based on your performance evaluation. Simple...
I learned so much in a short period of time. All our classmate needs is to understand that she needs more time and another course or two of the basic training course will ensure that she can safely operate a motorcycle on the road without putting her life or others in danger.
Lastly Jim was hard on each individual including me. If I would not have passed I would have taken the course again and requested Jim. I am not a daredevil - I wanted to learn solid skills and Jim provided that to me. I would recommend Jim to my family and friends. Ride safe! Live long! Respectfully -

i think people connect her failing the course to our dissatisfaction - our problem is with the fact that she was not taught anything.

I Was There - This is No Rip-Off
AUTHOR: Wyatt - (United States of America)

First let me state that Jim is a good man. Jim is a Marine (Once a Marine, always a marine) Sargeant. I would guess that he spent some time as a Drill Instructor.
Jim is firm, fair and friendly. He has a course to teach. If all 8 students asked random questions at random times the class would be too chaotic to learn. So Jim instituted rules that all questions will wait until he finishes explaining the level objective. Several times Jim was interrupted mid sentence and asked a question. Jim would then look up and say "When do we ask questions?" which ALWAYS brought the reply, "As soon as you're finished explaining." This happened many times.
I'm 50 years old, never owned a motorcycle, never rode on the street. My lifetime experience on bikes is approximately 10-15 TOTAL hours... On loaned dirt bikes.... In 50 years! So, it suffices to say that I am a complete newbie to this.
If you want to learn, please call Jim. He took me from zero to a hundred in 2 days. I passed the 50 question test with a 100%. I passed the riding evaluation with a perfect score and went on the final day to ACE the DMV test consisting of 20 questions. Jim is the BEST and has prepared me to ride safely in this concrete jungle!
I'm sorry that this complainant is so upset. Had she spent a day or 2 cooling off she would have seen that Jim actually saved her life. Anyone who crashes a moped on a closed course has no business riding on these crazy busy streets. Especially riding a Ducati Monster that she planned on getting.
Like Jim, as a business owner I take exception to frivolous claims that could hurt a business.
He is NOT a rip-off artist. I got what I paid for.
He is not a racist. He spoke of his Chinese EX while living by the bay.
He's not anti-immigrant. His family immigrated here legally.
He loves God and Country and respects the laws under which we live.
He's a man of honor that wants to be sure that when he sends you out on the highway, he doesn't read your obituary the following week.
THAT is what came through loud and clear to me.

Folks, believe who ever you want - its not like it will be my money you throw away
If you are starting from scratch and want to learn then it is MY SINCERE RECOMMENDATION that you stay away from this instructor.
If you don't believe me then go ahead and and take the course from this fellow. But blame yourself when your feedback about the course only warrants a "told you so".
My issue is absolutely no where in the failing of the course - there was no way to pass because questions aren't allowed and you need to pick it up right away instead of being taught. Just search the net for feedback - you will see i am not the only person saying this.
MSF classes usually have multiple instructors - one showing you the demo and others helping the students figure things out. This guy usually comes alone and does not have time to help you out. Each exercise needs to be wrapped up in 20/25 minutes - too bad if you are having difficulty with something.
I graduated with Honors in college. I am a certified scuba diver. I have sky dived. Ridden all over the world as a passenger on my husbands motorcycle . Taken courses for Italian and French. Even ridden dirt bike in california where i was going over jumps. And this guy is saying that i have trouble following simple instructions. Every course i have taken, people assume that you are starting from scratch and help you get better. The first dive in scuba is also tough - but the instructor works with you till you get it.
I should have left when he insulted my husband for no reason. When he was rude to me for no reason. when he screamed at me for no reason. oh well too late for that.
i will repeat though- for those who are short - unlike every other training institution which has "standard" riding position bikes (i.e you you are upright with the pedals almost directly below you), he only has cruiser bikes, which are foot forward riding position - not friendly for shorter people starting out.
This is my feedback. Rest it up to you.

#1 REBUTTAL Owner of company
She failed the riding test, the other 7 students (including a woman) all passed!
AUTHOR: Jim - (United States of America)
SUBMITTED: Thursday, February 02, 2012
Never at any time in ANY BRC Class have I ever said:
First LIE, "f you are a girl - to start with he will tell you that you are useless and not safe on the road"
The class make-up was 8 students, two were women. The other woman had never ridden
a motorcycle, she passed the course. Most people can listen and follow simple directions, a few can not. Unfortunately, that is the case here.
Second LIE "If you are a new rider and are having some trouble getting started - then you are going to ride a scooter - because he doesn't "have the time" to teach the techniques of
balancing, which foot to rest on the ground etc etc."
In exercise two, it is required that you push the motorcycle in order to turn it around. This person, could not physically turn the motorcycle around. She said, and I quote, "I am worn out, I cant do
this". At this point I had to put her on a scooter in order for her
continue the course.
Third LIE ""when i go over wooden logs i pretend these are immigrants - there are too many immigrants in my neighborhood" "
This is the worst blatant lie she makes. NEVER would any Rider Coach ever say this! Six generations ago my grandparents arrived on Ellis Island from Ireland. I served my country in the United States Marine Corps in the 60's. I am proud to be a descendant of immigrants, and I am proud to be an AMERICAN!
This country is governed by laws passed by our elected officials. Texas law states that you have to pass the Basic Rider Course in order to get a license in the State of Texas. She did not pass the on cycle riding test! I have no idea what country she comes from (she brought up the immigration issue in her subject line "Stay Away if you want to learn, are a woman or an immigrant!", but here in Texas we are
required to obey the laws. She failed the course, when she failed the on-cycle riding test at the end of the class. Therefore, she can't get a Texas Motorcycle License until she passes the Basic Rider Course required by Texas law.
This person is an outright LIAR
IF you are reading this and are unsure which of us is right in this issue, CALL ME, my number is at the top. You can't call her because she doesn't even use her real name in this let alone her phone
number.
