It took me 5 faxes and 9 phone calls over one month to get to the end conclusion: This company is working in their own best interest and convenience. Do a google search on ty ty nursery before ordering.
What happened: I ordered a 5-6yr white pine and received it early December '07. The package in which the tree got shipped was not tall enough. The person packaging decided to snap the top to make it fit. We all know that the way you stop a tree from getting taller is to take out the top.
After I sent two faxes with pictures of the tree and got no response, I started to call. I spoke with the following people:
Nick - who told me that "pruning is a scientifically proven method that's beneficial to the tree, just look on the web site". When I disagreed he hung up before saying "you don't like it, just send it back".
Nick - I called back to ask about shipping charges, Nick answered that I should fill out the RA form on their web site.
Alex - who said he received the RA form and a replacement tree would be shipped same week.
Todd, who said they had not received the RA form that I faxed (I keep the fax drop sheets as evidence, so he lied)
Josh - said nothing got shipped out and Todd's not here.
Patrick - he said call back within an hour, he'll be able to get his hands on a 5-6yr white pine for shipment.
Patrick - says he needs to get the original order form. (I faxed it)
Nick: "Patrick is outside with a customer, call back in 15 mins"
Todd: "Patrick is not in", when I said I heard differently earlier, he said he had already sent out an RA card in the mail "before the New Year" (5 days earlier). Todd said that "the RA card states that a replacement will be shipped". When I said what Alex said two weeks earlier he said that Alex was fired because he wasn't doing his job.
Todd: (I called back 11 days later) said "You're approved! All you need to do is send in a check for 25% of the total charge to cover shipping, send back the old tree, with the original order form, and a new one will be shipped in the spring". When I presented my surprise that it took one month to get me that information he said that I'm not treated any differently from any other customer, 'those are our rules'. I asked for the manager. Todd said he is the manager. "Ok Todd, then who's in charge of customer support?" "I am in charge of customer support".
That's when I congratulated him on a job well done. I did!
I also cursed myself for not googling "ty ty nursery" before ordering... There is so much bad feedback out there! I was crazy to send my money there. I certainly am not going to send another 25% to cover shipping after I spend money sending their stick back to them, which, by now, has all but dried out.
There is no good reason to buy from ty ty nursery. They will rip you off and jerk you around if you complain about it.
