"they pay mile based on zip code to zip code, not actual miles." GEE just like MOST otr companise do..
"Plus they route you to avoid all tolls even if its out of your way and still charge customers for their tolls."
how do you know they are charging the customers for toll.....??? they route you around the toll roads because usx has to pay the tolls and if you had to pay them like i do you would understand

I work for US express, they could give a s**t about there drivers, they pay mile based on zip code to zip code, not actual miles. Plus they route you to avoid all tolls even if its out of your way and still charge customers for their tolls. They take advantage and rip off student drivers and desperate people who need a Job and need to live in their truck. Another training company with their $ in politicians pockets.

I'm willing to guess based off of your comment and your stunning take on the way following is spelled that you did not appropriately complete your paperwork.
In regards to the training transportation pay there is a form that has to be filed and submitted during training if you don't complete the form and provide receipts you don't get reimbursed.
Detention pay firstly is only available for 11 hours per 24 hours you must submit a macro each hour if you don't you don't get paid. Additionally if you are late for your appointment time you don't get detention.
Reguarding your miles... Rand McNally movers guide miles are calculated from zip code to zip code. You can expect up to a 10% difference from actual miles sometimes in your favor most of the time not. I'm not sure what you mean that it did not follow the map.
All and all I don't think USXPRESS is any different from any other trucking company. It sounds like you just didn't follow procedure. My judgment on that is based on my personal experience with always getting paid on time with no argument.

As an owner operator for Us Xpress for almost 9 yrs and driving for over 19 I recognize a good company when I see one. I have always been treated fairly by US. As with every company on the planet you can always find something wrong. But you must be fair with your critique. With over 5,000 company trucks and over 1,000 owner ops, there are plenty of bad apples. No company is perfect but at least this one gives a d**n!!!!

1st of all driver please get your spelling right. What training are you refering to that you were not paid for, I want to know. If you're a real driver you already know that the miles the load pays is normally a little less than you driver. For example, if you were on a load from Chattanooga, Tn to Atlanta,Ga the load might pay a total of 112 miles to Atlanta. Your consignee might be on the south side of Atlanta and we all know that trucks must use the 285 loop around the city. You might end up driving a total of 125-130 miles.
Maybe you'll do better as an owner operator, that way you can set your on prices as for as miles and pay yourself all the miles you drive. That should work out better for you, "Good Buddy".

i agree with the people who wrote in with complaints about this company. im a current employee of u.s. xpress and i find your remarks about the pay issues with this company to be absolutely incorrect, you must personally know max fuller to receive any detention pay. i have personally with other drivers that i have known for awhile that have worked here before, we all have had detention issues from 16 to 23 hours and thats with using the detention macro and getting the in and out times on the bills with signatures. along with phone calls to fleet managers and payroll and still nothing. you get tired of fighting a loosing battle with this company. finally the only way you can win with this company is to be a person who likes drama 24 hours a day 7 days a week 365 days a year.

US Xpress will reimburse you the price of a bus ticket so you may drive yourself. They don't "send" you a bus ticket.
Second, just because you're not having problems does not mean they don't exist. Pull your head out of the sand. It happens. It happened to me and I followed the rules. To the "T".

USX does not pay Rand McNally Map Miles but household miles. And if you paid attention in your orientation class you would know this. And as far as detention pay, I HAVE NEVER had a problem with USX paying detention. In fact they send macros across the driver tech to ask you why you were detained, even when you don't send in macro detention request. My question is this, what did you really do wrong?

Gorge usx sent you a bus ticket so why should they pay YOU for Transportation....?
also usx has not had CDL training for over 2 years so it's had to know just what you are talking about as to training.. now as to you not being paid for 27 hr detention.. was the load 27 hr's late being ready...? were you ONTIME to pick it up...? if you were two min late getting to the shipper then they don't have to pay you. if you didn't send mac 14 every hour they don't have to pay you.... like it or not that is the rule and it's in the handbook...!
usx has rules and procedures and if you follow them you GET PAID if you don't then YOU broke the rules and if you break them then they don't have to pay you. it's in the book.
Deborah if you worked for me and you didn't sent in the paperwork that you should and don't send the massages that you need to that i would use to get paid for unloading and detention then why should i pay YOU for NOT doing YOUR job..
the only time i/we have had an problum with getting paid was when i DIDN'T sent mac 7 and then it took 1 call to payroll to fix. and yes Deborah i/we have been paid up to 32 hr's detention. and i/we always get paid layover (not on sunday) and i always get the reciver to sign off on DRIVER UNLOAD and we get paid. we have always been repaid for tolls, and scales, ever $.35 hand writen (by me) toll slips... we always send mac 7 and we ALWAYS get paid back. BTW MY check for last week had $93 detention on it
so Deborah if you are not getting paid YOU are not doing things right....!
as Connie said they are a good company to work for and as someone that has been with USX for over 5 years all i can say to you doborah is "blow that someplace else..."

If you have never had a problem getting paid detention, layover, or unloading from this company...That insults my intelligence. Usxpress is in the practice of not paying their drivers no matter how loud we yell. So please, blow that someplace else...

I've worked for USXpress as a driver for over 2 years now, first as a company driver, and now as a lease operator. I've always been treated fairly. The company has always tried to fix whatever issues I've had. They listen to my complaints and try to resolve the problems. The company does have rules and procedures to follow though. Each employee is given a handbook with the proper rules and procedures in it.I follow those guidelines and have never had a problem. You should have read it. This is a good company to work for if you follow the rules.
