Scarborough, Ontario, CANADA: Uberdoo.com has been slapped with a legal notice by AppDetex, a company managing trademark and other legal issues of Uber Technologies Inc., of illegal usage of the trademarked name Uber in their website. Sources confirm that the company was shut down and winded up owing to the seriousness of the notice. In the past many uber clone companies have come up but none of them have openly used the name UBER in their website URL. This may be the main cause of alarm for the company. The most shocking thing about this turn of events is that Uberdoo might have to withdraw all the apps that it has already rolled out to its clients. AppDetex states that Uber Technology Inc. believes that such continued use is likely to continue to cause customer confusion and Uber Technology, Inc. has an
obligation to its customers and the public to police against the registration and use of domain names that may cause such consumer confusion. Although the company might be taking satisfactory steps to protect themselves from the penalty of perjury by making any statement, their spokesperson is likely to make a public remark for the benefit of their clients. Trademark and infringement laws are taken very seriously internationally.

In case careful legal consideration has not been done and permissions neglected, the use of the word Uber to represent their company is not defensible. The fate of the company rests on how soon they can act on the advice of closing their website down or changing its name to something else. The rights to the products sold while under this name may also be questionable.
