Ubid.com fraudulent! Thieving! Rip-off! Danville Illinois

I won a bid for a widescreen television and immediately paid, in full, by credit card. I received notice several days later that the order had been sent to the warehouse. About a week later, I received notice from ubid that the order had been cancelled, due to a shipping delay. This angered me, as they had no right to cancel my order without my approval. It angered me even more, as they had already charged my credit card.

I repeatedly emailed ubid, but they insisted that they had not charged my credit card, a ridiculous claim, since I had the proof in my statement. They finally relented, claiming that they had never cancelled my order, although my home page still lists the auction as cancelled. Today, the tv finally arrived, but it seems that ubid cancelled the white glove shipping that I had been charge $265 for. Instead, the 285 pound television was delivered curbside only.

When I called the shipping company, they informed me that they no longer have a contract with ubid for white glove shipping, and that my order, although it had originally included white glove shipping, had since been downgraded, by ubid, to curbside shipping only. When I called ubid, thay agreed that they no longer offer white glove shipping, although they still advertise it for larger items, and they offered to refund $75. When I argued that that was not even close to enough, they finally offered $100, and then increased it to $200 when I mentioned the BBB and FTC.

Now we'll see if they actually follow through on the refund. This transaction has been riddled with fraud and theft since the very start. Consumers BEWARE - AVOID UBID.COM!!!!!
