Ultimate Power Sales, PMBC-344 ripoff: the magazines never came, huge handling fee, lies, poor cancellation policy Sugar Hill Georgia

A couple of weeks ago, two men came to my dorm room soliciting a magazine. They fed me this bogus story about earning points to be top in the country for this contest and I felt very uncomfortable. i just wanted them to leave so I subscribed to a magazine for two years.

There was a nine dollar handling fee and all sorts of crazy stuff so it was $33 final price. They told me that the company would call me before they cashed the check so I figured I could just tell them to cancel it when they called. The boys (between 19 and 23 years old I would guess) said they'd get half of their points even if I cancelled it.

Well apparently they cashed it w/o calling me and I just looked up the company online and saw that they were like notorious for scamming people (ultimate power sales, inc pmbc-344). People had done rip off reports to let other people know and I guess I didn't see it in time.

The cancellation policy was crazy: you can't cancel over the phone (?!?), it must be over $25 (?!?!?), and you must cancel the transaction before midnight of the third business day. Does that mean I'd have to send a cancellation in the mail? It was so vague and I didn't read the receipt because I was under the impression that they would call me and I could easily cancel.

I got nailed and didn't know it until they cashed the check. That's when I realized something was wrong because they didn't contact me. DON'T EVER DO THIS! NOT EVEN FOR PEOPLE YOU KNOW. IT IS A SCAM!!!! I won't even get the magazines. My bank can't cancel the check because it has already been cashed. I'm stuck so I wanted to let others know so they won't be placed in the same situation. Good luck and be smart!
