We bought a mattress from Unclaimed Freight around 3 yrs ago. It started to sag in the middle about a year or so ago, so we called them to see what kind of a warranty there was on it.

They told us there was a 15 yr warranty on it, but that warranty was voided if there were any stains on it. We then told them that they did not inform us of this information about any stains when we bought it, & the new manager, not sure on his name, looked back in our file & saw that yes, we had bought it, & no, we weren't offered a mattress protector with it, & that he did not understand why we weren't offered that, because all mattresses are supposed to have that offer with them, due to stains voiding warranties. The employee that sold it to us was no longer working for them so he couldn't ask them either why it was not offered to us.

So he then offered to email the customer service for the company & see what they could do for us. My husband gave him his cell number to call us back & let us know what they decided. He called back & told us that he tried, & that they can't do nothing about our sagging mattress because of the stain.

Meanwhile, my husband has back problems, & suffers every morning when he wakes up due to our mattress & how bad it sags. I myself don't have back problems, but I wake up too with a backache. I don't believe a mattress should sag this bad after only 3 yrs, & I believe they should give us a new mattress & a mattress protector with it. It is only fair I think, due to them not explaining what voids a mattress's warranty & not offering us a mattress protector.

Mattress Issue

AUTHOR: Unclaimed Freight Furniture Staff - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, March 03, 2010

In the interest of fair reporting, I feel necessary to comment on the Unclaimed Freight Furniture report of mattress purchase.  First of all, the mattress purchase was in February 2005, which is 5 years ago.  All mattresses carry a warranty from the manufacturer which is voided if there are any stains on it.  The employee that sold the original mattress does in fact still work for us.  The salesperson in question, as well as all of the other sales staff, has been trained to inform the customer of the circumstances that void the warranty.  Customers are offered the opportunity to purchase a mattress protector at the point of sale.

We regret the fact that the bed has issues.  We certainly understand that a good nights sleep is extremely important but also believe that the customer remains responsible for certain qualifications of a purchase to maintain the warranty of that product.  Our intent of this rebuttal is only to report both sides of the issue.
