Uncle Howard's Barns - Great Western Barns Co Did not deliver usable plans for city permit. Not what was agreed upon. Oakville Washington

 On March 17,2010 I entered into a contract with Great Western Barn Co to build a barn for a total price of $121,864.00. A $12,000  down payment was required at signing of contract and then another $12,000 on April 6,2010 for them to start the plans for our barn. A total of $24,000 was given to Great Western Barn Company.

 The following verbiage has been taken directly from the contract: " Included: The shell price includes plans, simple directions, material list, lumber, hardware and generous roofing allowance. Nails are included(hand drives, not pneumatic). Not Included: These accessories can be ordered from the table below. Gravel and concrete are not included. Paint, insulation, electrical and plumbing are not included. No drywall or interior finish. This is a kit; labor is not included. No drywall or interior finish."

 After waiting months to get the plans so they could be submitted to the city for permit, and after months of my continuous badgering  and having to deal with Howard Horton's volatile personality I received an email with the "so called plans" on Jul 8,2010. I then met with my contractor and engineer to go over the plans. They advised me that the plans were nothing more than drawings and could not be submitted to the city as stamped plans.

 As the contractor and engineer inspected the plans they pointed out posts every 10' on the bottom floor, including the garage that would make it impossible to even open a car door. They also state the plans lacked Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Engineering and Structural plans and details. The three of us called Howard Horton, on speaker phone, and started to explain to him the conditions of the plans and in return in started screaming and hung up on us. I sent an email terminating his service and requested a refund and he refused.
