A problem with both "Undercover Repo" and "Universal Acceptance Corporation" in which approved the auto loan.

I worked out an arrangement with UAC on a $300.00 down payment separated into two weeks @ $175.00 each.  I brought the payment of $150.00 as scheduled but was short $25.00 on the first payment with the remainder of $200.00 being paid on 5/15/10.  I received a letter from UAC on 5/12/10 telling me I have until 5/23/10 to pay the $200.00 in full or they would reposs my vehicle.

On 5/14/10 I got home from work (I work 58 miles south of where I live) to find out my son's girlfriend and another guy friend pulled into our driveway to find a strange man standing in our garage (locked originally) with the main door open and another detached garage 1/2 open (also locked).  The man would not give his name other than "He came to get what he was ordered".  As the night went on, I received a phone call from my son stating that some man was at our house hooking up my car to his tow truck.  To make a long story short, I spoke with the man briefly and explained to him that he was at the house earlier and broke into my garage while noone was home (the vehicle wasn't there either) and he demanded the keys which I had on me 60 miles away from my home and I refused to get them to him.  He was rude and said he will "DRAG" this car out of the drive way and if anything happens to it he will not be held responsible.  I explained to him what actions I was going to take and that I had worked out something with UAC.  He told me he was given authority by UAC to pick up my car on 5/12/10 (the same day the letter from UAC was dated that I received on the 14th).  Very rude, wouldn't listen and hung up on me!  He was also threatening towards my son.  THIS MAN (BILL) DRAGGED MY CAR ABOUT 200 FEET before turning the vehicle around on his tow truck in front of my home.  I still have the keys and now they are charging me $40 to come and get my possessions that he took!

The man's name is BILL with UNDERCOVER REPO in Brooklyn Park MN.  The company would not give out there address as they don't let anyone come to their shop anymore!  Can't imagine why?? You now meet them at "Assessible Foods" in Brooklyn Park and have to make an appointment!  Bill was driving a WHITE duel Truck with a sticker on the side that reads: "MN UAC".  If anyone else has had problems with this company, please email me back.  I am going to be filing criminal charges against this man and also the company he works for.  There will also be filings with the Better Business Bureau and the Attorney Generals Office.

As for UAC...I contacted them the next day and they said I broke my arrangement by $25.00 and I "CANNOT" have my vehicle back.  I had the remaining $200.00 owed to them and they would not accept it!! Long story with this company!  I am in the process of also filing complaints with the Attorney Generals office and the Better Business Bureau for this company also.

I owned the car for 40 days!!!!!!  What a complete JOKE!!!  As for the car, I'm sure the tires are now damaged along with the transmission!!!  I DON'T WANT THE CAR BACK NOW!!!

Wondering

You didn't pay according to your two week agreement, which of course tells the company you are a problem payer and they should take the car back.

Did the repo company really break into your locked garage?  Is the lock broke?  I doubt it.

Do "my son's girlfriend and another guy friend" have keys to your house? Maybe they are not admitting to it but they opened the door to let the repo guy into the garage?

No repo company would break into a garage to get a car because breaking and entering is illegal.

- Well that almost says it all.  You were with a SUB-PRIME lender, which means that you had previous credit issues.  Then on top of that you were short on your FIRST payment.  No wonder they wanted to reposess the vehicle.

Now, where you may have gotten very..very lucky, if you can call breaking and entering lucky, is that from your description the Repo Company did break the law by breaking into your locked garage(s).  As in most(if not all) States that is against the reposession laws, and you should have contacted the police right then and there.  If they did break the law you may be able to go after them criminally as well as through the civil courts.  So you may actually be able to claim enough "damages" to pay off the remaining debt that you have with the Resposession.

Hopefully this incident will teach you that you need to take credit seriously.
