I have read many of the reports on Unite American ands how people were sold policies as major medical insurance. I am not in love with insurance companies by any means, as I spent years in the business. I have since more years fighting them in court for policy holders as an expert witness against many companies wrong doings. I must say that in the instances where people are hurt here seem to be not the companies fault but the fault of the agents selling the policies. Bad agents are predatory and look for one thing, Commissions. Most people do not read there policies until the time they need them. All of you no matter the state you are in have some remedy by contacting your local state insurance commissioners office.

I have been successful getting money back for people by filing the proper complaints with the office here in Florida state insurance office. I have also been able to get companies to pay benefits that were not in their policies, but paid as the policies were presented and pitched by the agents. Please contact your state office of insurance so these agents at least get their licenses taken away.

When you call the companies to complain of the agents not much is done as you r complaints usually fall on deaf ears. Keep calling and get to the highest level you can preferably the CEO. Enough calls and a well written letter to the CEO will get action in many cases. Each state has its own laws but in Florida a buyer has 30 days to read their policy and if it is not correct it can sent back for the premium paid. Again call your Insurance commissioner, send and call companies CEOs and complain, compliain, complain, until you get answers.

agents are the disonest ones

L, i agree with you 90%. a lot of the agents are looking for one thing, commisions. but most of the agents are trying to earn an honest living, but the problem is that they listen to the management on how to give the presentation, if they would do the research and find out what hospital's charge on just some of the procdures then look at how the policys pay, then they could give an honest presentation. but then there sales would go down if they disclosed the proper information. so should the agent go to court if the agent was instructed by mamagement to do the presentation this way? i say yes. the agent should know what he is selling, what it pays for and what it dont pay for. but i think the managment should also fall into the law suit also.
