On 10/07/07 My spouse faxed the Co. & requested her health ins. Policy be cancelled as of Midnight 11/30/07 & Automatic premium deductions be stopped after the November payment. This was done due to her Medicare coverage beginning on 12/01/07.

When there was no response to the Fax, I followed up with a phone call. The woman I spoke to told me that none of the people we normally dealt with were still working there but she had received the Fax & would handle my wife's request.

I thanked her & thought no more of it until I received our next Bank Statement which showed a premium deduction for December.

I have been phoning daily in vain. All I get is an answerihg machine & no one returns my calls.

I called my Bank & found that they had deducted another premium for January.

To date, they have taken $1,041.90 which we did not owe.

Tomorrow I'm filing a complaint with the State Insurance Commissioner's office to see what suggestions they may have as to how I can stop these bank drafts & recover our money.

After contacting the Home Office, I was told the Branch office never notified them of the cancellation. I then faxed them the original letter along with the Fax trans mission report showing it had been received by the Branch office in October. When there was no reply, I called again & got a different customer Rep. who told me the Fax had not been received. I Faxed it again along with the transmission report showing they had indeed received it. Still no reply so another phone call & a different Rep. who found the Fax. A few days later we received a rebate check for about 30% of what was owed us. Back to the telephone & another different Rep. This one asked for all the info again. By now I should be getting book rates on my Fax machine. I faxed the original letter + all the previous Faxes & transmission reports. I guess I finally reached a responsible person who took his job seriously. Either that or I was becoming a pain in somebody's rear end. A few days after the last Fax a check arrived for the remaining 70% of what was owed.
Thank God I have unlimited long distance phone service or my phone bill might have equalled the refund.
I now check Rip-Off report BEFORE making any purchases.

I am guessing you tried to call the agent and the branch. If so you can bypass all that and cancel with the company customer service number on your policy. By the way did you not fill out a replacement form with your medicare policy you replaced it with? On your new policy for a medigap plan it should of had a place for that.
