I had medical bills in excess of $50,000 and I was shocked at how much was actually paid by United American. I only ended up paying about $1,000 which included my deductable. And I only pay about $200/mo. for my insurance. I talked recently with my agent and he reminded me that I don't have to worry about my insurance going up because I submitted a claim. I will recommend United American to everyone I know. :)

There is NO WAY that UA paid that much on a policy!!

AUTHOR: Lexy - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, May 31, 2008

I worked for UA for 2 Years and sold every policy they had and there was no policy that paid that much not even the $100k Flex would pay that much. To bad people have to just blatantly lie because they have been brainwashed like most UA Agents. There are so good honest UA Agents out there, but they are few and far between and they can make 70-100k a year but it won't be easy, because its harder to sell UA's products when your honest about them, its all a numbers game and the ones that make 300k a year are not honest, no way!!

Pad is telling the truth, and James is lying...

Sounds like James works for the company, and is trying to divert attention away from the limits of the policy. From what you stated "James" your claim is not true.

yep your right i dont believe you that you only paid 1000 including the 500 dollar deductable on a 50,000 dollar bill, because i know the limits of your policy. and it just dont add up. and i dont know where you get im bad mouthing the company. its the agents that im bad mouthing and is making my blood boil. in the past month ive talked to 7 folks that have ua, 5 of the 7 were told they have a 500 dollar deductable 80/20 plan major medical. yeah some agents might not tell the truth, yeah tell that to the people that have lost there farms, there houses, there assets, or had to file bankruptcy because they were lied to. but the dishonest agents dont care they got there money. and to the other agents say you should of read your policy. its the agent job to make sure the customer understands the policy. take yourself for example, you think you know what your policy pays for and what it dont pay for. well here is some info for you. what you have will not pay for you to be in the hospital for 2 years. max of 40 days total. i would recommend you read the front page and page 3 of your policy real careful, and real close. then i would recommend you call your agent and ask about these issues. and if you get cancer how will it pay for chemo and radiation treatments on a outpatient basis. this would fall into the half a million or more you were talking about. and it would only take one of these for you to loose all your assests. health insurance is assest protection. the company i represent, you will not find it on this web site. has one of the lowest complaint index in the united states. and will protect your assets. and yes ua has a high complaint index. but its the dishonest agents that has caused this high complaint index, not the company.except for some customer service issues, but that will happen with every company in the USA.

Why won't Pad leave it alone?

AUTHOR: James Lifton - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, May 03, 2008

Pad,

From what I've read of your comments on this site, you are not exactly a neutral party. It's clear that you've never been wronged by United American Insurance and yet you've spent more time complaining about this company than those who actually had negative experience. So I have to ask myself, "Why would someone who has never been wronged by this company spend so much of their time on this site bad-mouthing it?" Within an hour and a half of my comment you were right there to question it. Then there's the fact that you yourself are an insurance agent for what appears to be a rival company. And then you argue with other people that express there satisfaction with UA as though they are wrong to be satisfied, and so you work to convince them that they should be unsatisfied.

I don't doubt that there are agents for UA that have given people empty promises or lied, but this can happen (and does) with any company. I had a very positive experience with my agent. She explained to me that my policy would not be a major medical policy. I can't afford a major medical policy. And a polic with a $5,000-10,000 deductible wouldn't have helped me nearly as much in my situation as my UA policy and probably would've cost me more. I've had major medical policies as a self-employed person and the rates that I got were always introductory rates, and then after a year I saw an increase of about 30%. I can't afford that. I've had my UA policy for two years and have seen only about a 7% increase.

Your questions:

You asked, "what was your hospital stay for? and how many days was [sic] you in the hospital?"

I won't answer the first question because it is an embarrassing personal matter and it's rude of you to ask. But since I know what my policy pays and what it doesn't pay I know that it wouldn't have mattered much if it had been treatment for a different issue that costs the same amount.

In answer to your second question, I was in the hospital for 5 days. I'm not sure how this is relevant since my policy pays for my stay up to two years.

I don't pretend to believe that UA's policies are the best policies that money can buy. They are, however, the best policies that MY money can buy. It's not nearly as likely that I will need half of a million dollars in treatment as it is that I will need treatment for multiple issues that cost around $50,000. If I have to pay $10,000 dollars and 20% of the remainder every time, I can go broke trying to pay for multiple procedures.

I'm satisfied with my insurance, why do feel the need to convince me to be unsatisfied? Why not do other things with your time? Why are you on such a mission to convince people to be unhappy with this company even when it has worked well for them?

I can tell by the title of your comment that you don't believe me. I don't care what you believe, but I do care about what numbers are at the bottom of my hospital bill and in this case they are numbers that I can live with and numbers that convince me that UA is a fine company.

So I suggest you take your sarcastic little "sure" comment and go elsewhere.

Btw, what company do you work for? Is your company immune to criticism? Are all of your company's clients satisfied? I doubt it.
