I am a 64 yr old female whose vehicle quit on her on the North Freeway Southbound, Houston Texas around 5:00 p.m on 12/21/2013.

I phoned my service provider who is AARP ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE (1800-555-1121).  Who indicated that it may take the towing vheicle anywhere from 60 minutes to arrived and since I lived a bit further than the required five mile required radius I would be charged a tad bit more. I personnally requested the method of payment and amount.  The representative indicated either cash or credit card I agreeded but he would not provide with an estimated amt. I feel this should be included as a valid part of policy agreement. Especially in cases of elderly such as myself. I consider this pre-medicated acts of fraud! After this incident I went on wesite to review status of any past complaints, it was frightening to say the least!!

At approsximately 5:37 pm I received a call from United Auto Towing Inc. asking directions of my location. I had provide directions to service (AARP Roadside Service) provided who in turned were to provide specific instructions to Towing Inc.(NOT) It took at least 8 plus calls (history of texts) upon request; until approximately 6:20 p.m.  before the driver secured vehcile. He was not only rude, added additional miles and overcharged for additional miles and requested me provide him with instructions to my residency. I refused indicating I refuse to  pay him to do Towing  dispatch or his job duties!

I informed him that I was going to report the incident to BBB or local authorities he indicated" he did not care, he was not going to provide me with his correct name and the phone numbers on the receipt were incorrect.  The copy of receipt recieved indcated veification of our conservation(fraudlent information)!  I attempted to file a complaint with the towing services phone indicated on receipt were invalid and miles indicated in addition false! (17.00 the miles were actually 13.45 from where my vehcile was actually picked up!!! Copy of receipt desiring complaint be not only reported to BBB to the company be thoroughly investigate by local authorities and state authories!

REPORT THE WRECKER DRIVER TO TDLR

AUTHOR: Texas Towing Compliance - ()

POSTED: Monday, December 23, 2013

Instead of contacting the Police, who will not do anything, file an online complaint with the Texas Department of Licensing & Regulations against the tow truck driver.  A tow truck driver is required by law to display their TDLR issued tow truck operators license when asked by a vehicle owner or operator.  The nature of him providing you a false name is a violation of State Law.  His actions will garner him a $1500 for conducting towing operations without honesty, trustworthiness and intergrity.  The BBB is just as bad as this towing company, as a business can buy an A+ rating with credit card charge of the $495 fee.
