My wife, being the kind-hearted person that she is, agreed to help by purchasing subscriptions for the troops. She was also told that part of the money would be sent to one of four foundations: Cancer Research, Childrens Literacy, Diabetes Research, and, I believe, a Childrens Diseases Research Hospital.
The young man was a smooth talker, seeming very genuine throughout the entire encounter. He said that his coach wanted him to offer some kind of service to anyone who purchased magazines from him. He agreed to come back on Sunday afternoon to wash one of our cars. He made friendly conversation, tried to connect with our dogs, and made an effort to say goodbye to both my wife and me.
I felt very uneasy about the entire thing and got online to research the company listed on the receipt. I was upset, but not surprised to find some very negative information about United Family Circulation, including this from the Better Business Bureau:
BBB Rating
Based on BBB files, this business has a BBB Rating of F on a scale from A+ to F.
Reasons for this rating include:
- 128
complaints filed against business - Failure to
respond to 41 complaints filed against business. - 8
complaints filed against business that were not resolved. - Overall
complaint history with BBB.
Several complaints state that the sales representative has represented him or herself as neighbors or students trying to earn money for a student in the area. The company states that they do not condone or use this approach in their sales training for these "independent contractors." Consumers should exercise the three-day cancellation privilege if they have been misled.

Stop being so stupid. in situations like this all anyone wants is someone to blame. well listen up agents and mrs. jones, your both to blame. the company doesn't make anyone do anything that they don't want to do. These "kids" as you try to make them out to be are grown adults. they make their own choices and qiute frankly most of their parents had no buisness having children because not a one them was raised right. you would have everyone believe the company teaches them how to lie and cheat and steal, but you don' tunderstand that they were lirs and cheaters long before they started selling magazines, why do you think they do it in the first place. because they have nothing better to do with their lives and that is there fault. they could go to school, get other jobs but they don't and why because it's easier for them to blame their failure on others, as opposed to excepting responsibility for where they got themselves in life. if you have a problem with the magazine buisness, don't sell magazines. if you have a problem with someone sales pitch, then don't buy. it's as simple as that. now shut up and go live the life that you obviously don't have if your on here writing about this crap. and that includes you too, cassidy frickelton. you were just as bad as the rest of them, and i wouldn't be to pride full about that whole fiance thing, he's not exactly a catch. as a matter of fact he cheated on you so many times it was sad. and the only reason no one told you is because they hated you and didn't think you were worth telling.

I also am an ex employee. ive never seen anyone beaten to a blood pulp.. Sure the managers have swung on people but thats about it it never gets bad. that is a little far fetched. And by drugs what weed? Thats not a drug bad enough to make peopel do these things.. We do them because we want to travel. and see new things and get paid for it. I hated it every step of the way. But i met my finace there and we left and are now expecting a baby so not all bad things come from magcrews. even tho i do remember some kids running up a bill with some prostitutes and their "pimp" coming to kill them so our boss had to pay him off... see their looking out for you! hahahahah

SORRY

I am an Ex-Employee of this company. The things i've seen go in, and
have been part of in this business are terrible, and some are just
downright horrific. Let me start off by saying that this is a real
business. Some people get thier magazines, and some never will. MOST of
the kids involved are not to blame. The company recruits distraught,
and mostly drug-addicted youths from all over the country. They lured
us in by telling us that we could travel the U.S. for
free(which was not the entire case), and by giving us hundreds of
dollars our first week for doing nothing. I am not porud of it, but i
have had to scam people before when i worked for this so called
"MAGCREW" just so i could survive. I have seen kids get literally
beaten to bloody pulps by the management for not selling enough
magazines in a day. I have also witnessed management doing drugs(while
driving alot of the time) then they go and drop kids off in some random
location where they have never been to before, and sometimes are not
picked up for hours or even the whole day. I have been left out in
neighborhoods by myself all night, and had to find a good person from
the area to ride me back to the hotel where we were staying. The
company promotes drug use for its employees. They figure if they keep
the kids on drugs that it will motivate them more to go out and lie,
steal, and be really pushy with people just so the kids will make money
for them, and support their own habit. Not to mention we only made $5
off of every sale we made on the day which didn't come easy because not
many wanna buy a $57+ magazine that they most likely will never read,
and if you didn't sell anything that day, you didn't get paid "PERIOD".
This company and most other traveling crews are nothing more than child
abusing, manipulative pimps and they need to be stopped before more
kids fall vicitm, and before more people are scammed out of their hard
earned money!!! SORRY BUT YOU WILL NOT GET YOUR MONEY BACK, AND THESE COMPANIES NEED TO BE PUT OUT OF BUSINESS RIGHT AWAY!
