I received a telephone call, which appeared on my caller ID as originating from Oregon. The phone number that appeared on my caller ID is (503)319-8892. Upon answering the phone I was greeted by an automated system, which stated, repeatedly, that I would receive two boarding passes for a Nassau/Bahamas cruise after completing a 10 question survey.
The automated system stated that I would be connected a representative upon completing the survey, to whom I should give my contact information, specifically my full name and an e-mail address, where I would receive the promised boarding passes.
After completing the survey, I was transferred to a representative, as stated by the automated system, who asked for my full name. Before providing the rep with my information I asked him what company he worked for, and what company was offering this "promotion." The representative stated, "United Public Opinion Group, but we're just the answering service." I asked him to repeat himself, because there was a lot of background noise, and I wasn't sure I heard him correctly, and he did so. I then provided my first and last name, and postal code, but he did not ask for my e-mail address. I was then reconnected to the automated system.
The automated system then congratulated me and directed me to the website www.surveycruise.com, where I should enter my phone number and postal code to "register" for the promised boarding passes, and that I would be contacted by another representative within 48 to 72 hours.
After entering my phone number and postal code on the website I was directed to, which was www.surveycruise.com, and clicking the "submit" button, a web page containing the following "error" information appeared...
