United Quality Publication PITTSBURGH AREA: Selling magazines door to door to win a "public speaking" contest. Pensacola Florida

6/15/2010 a college aged boy and girl knocked on my door. They were very humorous and flattering as they talked about their contest for public speaking and how they were in 2nd place and needed so many points to pull in first place to win a trip to Barcelona. I'm not prone to supporting door to door fundraisers but I was drama student in high school and have small children of my own so I bought one 2 year subscription "Disney Family Fun" for my children at $49. I wrote them a check for this although they insisted they would get more points from people who paid cash up front.

The receipt specifically says: THE SALESPERSON AND SALES ORGANIZATION ARE INDEPENDENT CONTRACTORS THAT HAVE CONTRACTED WITH UNITED QUALITY PUBLICATIONS, INC TO CLEAR THE MAGAZINE SUBSCRIPTION ORDER(S) REFLECTED ON THIS ORDER FORM. IN OTHER WORDS THEY ARE NOT AGENTS OR EMPLOYEES OF THIS COMPANY.

The receipt also states to allow 120 to 160 days for delivery.

I will admit now that I believe I was scammed and I doubt I will receive any of the magazines I ordered.

Also, looking at the receipt I notice that the seller's name is Chris Johnson... How many thousands of that name come up when you google it?
