I have been a devoted customer to United States Bankcard Service for 3 years. Always paid on time, never bounced a check, never complained about their high rates or fees. You could consider me a perfect customer.
In February, I received notices from my bank for a series of bounced checks ($150 worth of fees). Low and behold, there was an added charge from US Bankcard for their extremely high annual fee of $75.00. No prior notice of this transaction, no warning.
I immediately called them, spoke to Brad and he said it was clearly stated on the statement and that I should "read it more carefully". RUDE! I hung up, looked for the statement and couldn't find it. 2 days later, it arrived in the mail, Almost 7 days after the transaction withdrawal. I then pulled all my statements and this was the case every month, the statement comes one week AFTER the withdrawal. This had never been an issue before as I know my sales and how much to keep in the account.
I then faxed a letter to Brad, who is supposed to be the "top dog" of the company. The letter was faxed to his attention and original mailed. 2 weeks later, no response, so I faxed the letter and mailed the original again. Now still weeks later, no response or follow up.
I had to call the company for a different reason and talked to a customer service rep, who I again went over everything with, and his response to me was, "Well, you should keep more funds in your account". Duh, ya think?
I can't believe this company's way of handling a customer. Unprofessional. Yes, I am a small company, but that doesn't make me any less of a customer. They need to change their policy and give customers the chance to know their fees before they are withdrawn. All I needed was one day to transfer the money, I have reasons on keeping my account low, I don't need some jerk telling me what I already know!
After all was said and done, I paid $250 in fees because of their bad business practices. This is one company that I will no longer being doing business with and anyone checking up on them should think twice as well.

Further, any Individual or Business Entity may be placed on Daily Discounting. This allows the processing fees to be taken out before the money enters the merchant's account instead of the processing fees coming out one time on the last day of each month.
The Yearly annual fee is $55 and is deducted in December. This annual fee includes PCI/DSS COMPLIANCE dues that protect the merchant and consumer from fradulent activity.

Situation Resolved

1. This merchant had a signed Merchant Agreement on file acknowledging the Annual Fee and had paid it the previous 2 years as well.
2. We offer an internet based service that would allow this merchant to view their processing statement online the same day as the withdrawl.
3. The merchant never sent in a formal request for a refund in writing as it states on their merchant agreement they must do to receive a refund.
4. This merchant cancelled and was not charged the remaining $77 they legally owed per their merchant agreement as a sign of good faith and to offset the $75 in question.
5. Everything that occurred within this situation from the merchant processing end was authorized and acknowledged by the merchant via their own signature and within our legal rights.
