Below is a letter I sent to Discover Card, FL BBB, FL Consumer Protection. This company should be put out of business, there are so many complaints against them it is hard to believe they are allowed to do business anywhere.
Every letter about their tactics and ripoffs are all true. They will not refund my deposit of $3905.68 and they never were at my residence nor lifted one box. They say that my having a heart attack 2 days before my scheduled move was not a good reason to cancel my move, after all a contract is a contract and they are entitled to keep my deposit. It was alright for them to change the contract to "give me a better driver and team"(I'm sure) 2 days before the move, it is alright for the owner, Aldo Disorbo to break his word he gave me to return my deposit. After all he is so poor, he may not be able to eat without my money I receive from Social Security.
When I returned home there were numerous messages on my Oregon phone (I was in Arkansas where the move was to be picked up) stating they had been assigned to my move and when should they show up. All different drivers, I think I only needed one.
Their response to FL BBB inquiry was "we can not find a contract with Brenda Ross so please remove the strike against their company " They implied I must be mistaken about whom my contract was with, but they found the contract to send a copy to Discover Card the same week, convenient I would say.
My doctor feels that the stress this company put me through with the constant changing, the theft of my credit card account number, the physical exertion (I am 68 and in poor health) etc. is what most likely brought on my attack. I lost a lot because I could not finish the move, I lost a renter for the house, and weakened my health.
Letter
If you are planning on making a move and hiring a van line to move you, let me give you a warning. DO NOT HIRE A COMPANY NAMED UNITED STATES VAN LINES. I made a mistake of entering into a contract with them.
I was told by an individual, named Mark Bock, that he had 20+ years experience and would guide me through the process and make it painless. I trusted this person even though the price kept going up, up and up from $3,500 to over $7,000. He kept saying it won't be near that much, that he was giving everything high weights so the cost would pleasantly be less. A couple of days before the scheduled move, I collapsed with a possible heart attack. I called and told this Mark and he said "not to worry, he would take care of everything". The next day I called and he had "quit the company".
I talked to a person named Pauline, she stated that I would not want to cancel as I did not give them 5 days warning and I
would forfeit the almost $4,000.00 deposit. I said my body did not give me 5 days warning and was told too bad, a contract is a
contract. They stated it would be alright to postpone the move for months. So I reluctantly said O.K.
At the beginning of this contract signing, I discovered that my Discover Card (had it since 1986 with no problems) had been compromised. 1 1/2 hours after I gave this company my account number someone in the same zip code area tried to charge over $1,500 to my card. I talked to a man named Aldo, who claimed to be the owner of this company (I HAVE HIS CELL
NUMBER IF ANYONE IS INTERSTED). I worked with him for several months in an attempt to secure the name of the person who used my card number. Due to the "Privacy Laws" I could not get a name.
At the conclusion of the effort in early March, I talked to Disorbo discussed the results and my move and the possibility of not being able to make it. He told me if that happened to call him and he would work with me on canceling the move and getting my deposit back.
It has taken until July (after most of my property was destroyed) to know that the move will not make sense. After repeatedly leaving messages asking for Disorbo to call me without any calls being returned, I contacted the company, they repeated the "no refund" and I told them to talk to Aldo the owner. I found out today 8/9/2011 that he instructed them to not issue any refund. So much for his word and integrity being worth anything.
In talking with the BBB in Florida, the FL Attorney General's office, the FL Consumer Protection Agency, I discovered numerous complaints, the fact he is not licensed to do business in the same state as his office (strange huh). After reading 100+
complaints and accounts of the theft, damage, intimidations, his police record, the increase in the monies due on delivery of many loads. I do not think it humanly possible to trust this company to make my move honestly and not to retaliate and damage my belongings.
If after reading this you still want to deal with this company, what ever you do DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY OF YOUR FINANCIAL INFORMATION, unless you want to risk identity theft or your financial info stolen or sold. Also just google the name Aldo Disorbo and add United States Van Lines, Nationwide Relocation or the other 100+ names he operates under and read for yourself.
I received a call from United States Van Lines today 8/16 warning me that my contract would now be placed in the cancelled file and I would forfeit all of my deposit. She said since I placed a dispute against the charges, they were taking this action. I thought this was my right. She said that when the credit card company found in their favor and they definitely would, I would loose the future move.
I informed her that I did not feel that the company would take care of my move in a professional manner. She also advised that I should try and call Aldo Disorbo again for the 4th time and explain the situation. I called and left a message on his cell and she left one for him also. No return of my call yet and I really do not expect one. I feel this was an attempt to further intimidate me and get me to drop the dispute.
Thank you.

I never said you did not make it clear about the refund, that is not the topic of my complaint. Let me make this perfectly CLEAR!! You do not keep your word, Aldo Disorbo is NOT a man of his word. I am not a disgruntled ex-employee, I am a very dissatisfied customer. WAIT I must not be a customer as you have now told the Florida BBB TWICE that you can not find a contract between us but you managed to send a copy to Discover Card and keep the deposit. Which is it did we have a contract or did we not have a contract. You can't have it both ways. Actually you cancelled your contract with me without any notice. You promised a credit towards a future move but when I filed a dispute with Discover Card Lissa called and said " We put your future move in the cancel file but if I would reconsider the dispute then maybe------" I don't think I have ever seen a company or person so greedy for money that they would sell their honor, integrity and business ethics for such a small amount. My word and integrity have a much higher price tag such as NOT ONE. This site is wonderful but if there are more out there everyone let me know I want to post on everyone I can find. Hopefully I can cost them more in LOST business than the money they are keeping of mine. I DO NOT give up easy.
Here is the response to Florida BBB Exact same response as their first one.
