I arrived at McDonald's near the Dallas Zoo to take my daughter-in-law and grandchildren to lunch before heading to the Dallas Zoo for a day of fun (it was Dollar Days at the Dallas Zoo and the Zoo as well as McDonald's was packed). When I arrived in the parking lot, the manager was in the parking lot instructing people to put their receipts for their purchase of McDonald's food on the dashboard of their car if they wanted to leave their car there and it would not be towed. I was a little apprehensive and so I asked hm several times if he meant that we could leave our car parked there while we we at the zoo and he said "yes, as long as you leave your receipt on the dashboard". So feeling assured my car was safe, I left it there after we ate lunch and went to the zoo. I was not the only patron that did so, there were several others that he told this too and they also left their cars there as well.
When we were finished with the zoo we walked back to the McDonald's, we found our car was no longer in the parking lot. I immediately went to the front counter and demanded to speak to the manager (of which I could see through the glass to the back office). The counterperson went to the back and spoke with him for a few minutes, pointed at me and he clearly recongnised me but looked away and refused to come and speak with me. Instead, he had his associate take a bochure from a stack of brochures from United Tow Company on the counter and hand it to me and said "My manager told me to give this to you". I said "No, I need to speak to him NOW!". Again, the associate went back to speak to him and again he refused to come to speak to me. I told the associate to get his information for me - his name, number and his supervisor's name and number. he refused to give me those things and told his associate to tell me that he said I could only leave my car there for 30 minutes which is an out and out lie. I truly believe he received "kick-backs" from the tow company for as many tows as he could produce that day and I (as well as many other people) were scammed. If I have to, I will go to the media with this. I want my money back for the tow $170.30 and the money I spent to get to the tow company $22.65, as well as this scam exposed so it won't happen to anyone else!!!
