Last week I went to the United Wellness Center in Herndon VA to make a chiropractic appointment. While there, I looked over the other services provided at the wellness center. I asked the receptionist about Ear Candling. She told me how great it was and that the lady will get a lot of ear wax and ear powder out of my ear. The ear powder I was told was from previous sinus infections.

The ear candle specialist lit an ear candle and placed it in my ear; she massaged the side of my face while holding the ear candle. When she was finished with the ear candle she dunked it in a glass of water and repeated twice more in that ear and three times in the other ear. When she was finished she cut open the ear candle and showed me all the wax and powder that had supposedly come out of my ear.

Later that night my husband and I bought some ear candles from two different holistic stores. I imitated what the lady had done with my ear to my husband. When I was finished I cut open the ear candle and showed him the wax and powder from his ear. He then became suspicious and burned an ear candle while holding it in the air. We then cut it open to find the same wax and powder present.

We went back to United Wellness and asked for a refund, the receptionist told us we had to speak with the manager, Dr. Hirani, who is a chiropractor and was then in a session. As to not make a scene we left our number and excused ourselves from the office. Dr. Hirani called us back and listened to my complaint about how when you burn the ear candle the wax and powder show up whether it's attached to an ear or not.

He told my husband and me that our assessment is different from the assessment of the receptionist and the therapist who did the ear candling and that he was not going to refund a single penny. He also would not let us explain our case to him and rather as we started speaking he would interrupt us, pointing out when we attempted to do the same in an arrogant and condescending tone. Finally he told us he was not going to agree with much of anything we had to say which may save us the trouble of further discussion. Then he told us to have a good night and hung up.

Dr. Hirani's practice is that of scam artistry, con artists, and shenanigans which holds no integrity. Dr. Hirani's United Wellness Center in Herndon VA is an excellent source for your snake oil needs.

Update on Snake Oil Bandits

The owner of the practice contacted us directly and gave a full refund but only after writing a letter to the board which overseas Virginia chiropractor licenses. Avoiding this practice will not only keep you clear from fraudulent treatments but also from a lengthy and time consuming complaint process. Learn from others when possible and be well. Best wishes to all!

Dr. Hirani has been referred to erroneously in this report.

First of all, she is a female.  Secondly, she is Not a chiropractor nor the office manager at United Wellness Center and she never spoke to this customer.

Her name has been defamed unnecessarily.  Please remove this report immediately.

United Wellness Center Ear Candling scam artistry from con artists pushing snake oil shenanigans from Herndon Va

We went back to United Wellness and asked for a refund, the receptionist told us we had to speak with the manager, Dr. Hirad N. Bagy, who is a chiropractor and was then in a session. As to not make a scene we left our number and excused ourselves from the office. Dr. Hirad called us back and listened to my complaint about how when you burn the ear candle the wax and powder show up whether it's attached to an ear or not.
