I ordered the accounting program at a price tag of $1400. I was told that if I was unhappy for any reason I could get my money back. When the material came I worked through the program and decided that the whole idea was not for me.
The material was childish and incomplete. The videotapes were of poor quality. And I felt that the program really didn't tell me how to run an accounting business. The accounting information was sketchy at best. I knew that they had a money back guarantee so I sent the material back. A week later, I was told that they could not see where I had done anything with the material so they would not send me back my money.
They wanted me to take the material back. Write all my notes in the books, do the work sheets and then they would return my money.
I do not feel like I need to prove anything to them. I am unhappy and I do not care for the product I was sold. I should get my money back. I had several e-mailed conversations with them and was told to "pay or else.
Now they are taking me to collections over this. I feel cheated. I am a single mother trying to find a way to make the most out of what I can learn to give my children the things they need.
This company never intended to give me my money back. They are fraud artists.

fed-ex racisim

i'm a 65 yr, old disabled woman who experienced racism at the fed ex office of downtown philadelphia on 9th and chestnut st. on 4/17/2015.when i went there i wanted to fax 8 business papers, while i was waiting i asked to use the ladies room. im in a scooter but i assured then i did't need assistance.
they ket me use it before. he told me he didn't have a key shich i knew was a lie. while i was trying to think where i could go a black lady who also was working there told me to come on she would let me in. he was looking at us i should say glaring at us.
she told me to call her when i was finished because the door was heavy which i did but no one came. so one of the patrons helped me out. i don't know if they made her leave or not. i can't asume. As i got back in line a white girl went to the same clerk and asked for the key to the ladies room and he gave it to her!
He even made a joke about don't lose them because his house keys were on there. he took my papers and faxed them and told me that would be 14.10 even though i thought this was steep i had to hurry for my ride that takes the disabled.
when i got home and called back i found out i was only to pay .13 apiece for 8 faxes which came to around 3.00 so then i told him why i thought i was charged so much and the incident the man didn't have his name on his shirt but i described him as a white male that had curly red hair pulled back in a ponytail. he denied anyone even worked there with red hair.
they didn't even say that i would get my money back.

Which guarantee is correct? Are the disks that fragile?

I've been solicited by this company to attend a free seminar (aka platform for sales pitch to convince multiple people at once that purchasing their product is the answer to their prayers). Not being familiar with the company I did some research. With regards to your guarantee, I've read conflicting statements/rebuttals submitted by representatives of Universal Accounting. Which statement is accurate? A rebuttal to this report states:
"I assume you must have had the course for over 30 days before returning it, otherwise we would have likely granted an exception to the policy. Our experience has shown that 30 days is ample for a person to make a judgment call as to its applicability to their situation."
Rebuttal of another report stated:Employee Submitted: 3/25/2006 12:00:12 AM
Modified: 3/25/2006 12:00:12 AM by Employee Ken in Salt Lake City, Utah U.S.A.
"We stand behind our Guarantee. Our money back guarantee reads":
''If, after completing the course, you feel the course didn't live up to your expectation, simply return the materials to Universal, for a 100% refund of any monies paid.''We structure the guarantee this way because we know that after a person has seen and completed the course in its entirety, he or she will recognize its tremendous value. This is much better than a 30 day guarantee because we want you to feel free to take as long as needed whether it take one month, or six months to complete it."
My other comment is how is it that the reason given for not issuing a refund on several occasions was because "the disk were damaged and unusable"? Are the disks that fragile? I would think that they would be more durable than that kind of money at least they would be for me. I hate excuses for inferior products especially at the cost of the reputation of a company. Precisely the reason I checked into it before signing up!

Most businesses which offer credible education products will stand behind thier product

Lisa,
It appears a representative of the company has posted some feedback for you with regards to thier refund policy. A couple of things you may wish to research are:
Are they a registered buisness in the State of Utah?
Are they registered (are they required to register) with the Utah State Board of Regents (Private Post Seconday Rules Act)R171 http://www.utahsbr.edu/policy/r171.htm
Most businesses which offer credible education products will stand behind thier product, and offer precise examples of career advancement and mobility regarding thier area of education.
I also firmly beleive that any business which is looking at remaining in business for the "long-term" will be willing to work something out with you vs. risking damaging thier reputation. There are several avenues to pursue, however you should first request to speak with either the "School Director" or if they do not have one, or if they are not a school, speak to the business owner if possible to resolve the situation fist. If they will not deal with you and be flexible then go the Consumer Protection route and file a legal complaint against them and thier services. By filing a complaint of this nature you will give yourself more leverage if they decide to send you to collections. I'de say deal with the business first to resolve the challenge. I'm not giving you legal advice just letting you know from experience.

Lisa,
We have 339 Lisa's in our student database. I'm sorry this wasn't handled better. As you know, our money-back guarantee reads "If after completing the course you feel that it did not meet your expectations, return the course for a full money-back refund." This policy is provided in all of our written materials, and the counselors are always careful to say it just as it is written.
Based on past practice, I assume you must have had the course for over 30 days before returning it, otherwise we would have likely granted an exception to the policy. Our experience has shown that 30 days is ample for a person to make a judgement call as to it's applicability to their situation.
I'd be glad to work this through with you as best I can, but you didn't provide a last name. Please call me so that I can understand your situation better. You can reach me at (800)343-4827.

The only Lisa from West DesMoines, Iowa in our database did not purchase a course from us. Is is possible that you purchased the course from another vendor?
