We had an account in good standing at Hollywood Video. It was sad to see them close shop and file bankruptcy in 2009. One of the local store managers remarked that one of the other stores had to close in 2008 because the store had negative cash flow (Washtenaw Ave/Huron Parkway store Ann Arbor, MI).

We returned movies we had checked out and said our goodbyes to the employees. I have not heard anything until July 23, 2012 I received a notice that a movie rented on March 18 2009 had not been returned and they are claiming in the letter that they made several attempts to contact me which is not true. Universal Fidelity LP is attempting to collect $21.45 and are referring to this as "debt owed to the Legal Successor of Hollywood Video/Movie Gallery, Inc" and "has been placed with Universal Fidelity LP, a national collection agency, because of the experience of collecting outstanding accounts like yours".

I checked with my daughters to see if they had the movie in their possession and they do not.  I remember making sure we returned movies since they were closing and I have even looked through my house to be sure there isn't a movie from Hollywood Video.

It seems suspicious that a collection account for a company that filed Bankruptcy 3 years ago would try to create a story to try to collect for something that doesn't exist. Even if there were a legitimate charge, isn't there a time frame for them to collect? I am currently receiving treatment for cancer so for a bankrupt company to hire a collection agency to attack former customers with bogus complaints that money is owed to them is rediculous.
