My fiance' was contacted by this company. She was convinced to sign up with this company to "keep the utility rates" from rising. Our bill has actually risen and now there is an additional charge applied to my account now as DTE is charging $21.77 and the bill itself (for the gas) has risen.
I have never signed up with this company. My name is the only name on the account. I was told that I had 30 days to cancel the account. I was not afforded the opportunity.
I spoke to a representative of the company who informed me that I would be charged $250.00 to cancel the account now.
Stay away from this company and tell all of your friends.

I just got off the phone with Universal Gas and Electric Corp.. The reason for my call was to cancil the service.
Well, forget that, I was informed that in order to cancell, I would have to put it in writing, accompanied by a check for $250.00(?) and when they recieve my check and the letter the service will be cancelled. I thought we could cancell at any time. What a joke. You are locked in for 5 years, and in the mean time paying about $25 to $35 a month on top of your gas bill to keep the lower price. My Consumers (gas) bill distribution charge for May was 0.204700 ccf for 30 = $15.14, Universal was 1.049000 ccf for 30= $31.47, where is the savings. I am on a fixed income, this is rediculous.
I hope they are put out of business, SOON.
