Universal Gas & Electric Corp. They lied to me several times in order to have me sign up with their service Southfield Michigan

There were a couple of young guys that were canvassing the neighborhood and they were polite and friendly. It was raining out and I was sympathatic. When they started going into their "spleel" I would directly ask questions because I didn't completly understand what they were trying to say. They said that I would be getting exactly the same gas from the same place but they would just ensure that my rates per (amount) could not increase. Well who wouldn't want that? They also needed part of my last bill from consumers Energy for something at their office. My gut feeling was Don't do it but like I said who wouldn't want a guarantee on the rate that they are paying knowing that it will never go up for three years? You would have to be a fool not to go for something like that.

Now I find out that my bills could increase drasticially and I was lied to in my face in order for me to do business with these people. Like a lot of people in the state I am fighting now to keep my home and unscrupulus companies should not be allowed to oprerate, PERIOD. You should not be allowed to flat out lie to people in order to get their business in the first place. If thats what it takes to get business they don't deserve to run a business. I have not yet experienced a drastic rate increase but I shouldn't have to pay upwards to $1000.00 to get out of a contract either. It just isn't right to treat people that way and we should not let them get away with this. The people of Michigan have enough to worry about without outright fraudulant companies.
