I had an interview at this place and frankly after the first interview I thought it would be a great place to work. The person I interviewed with was cool and we talked for a long time. I then got called in for the second interview. That's when I realized this place was full of s**t. The guy I got stuck with was such a moron he didn't even realize it. You know, one of those smart idiots who doesn't know s**t but acts like he knows everything. We literally spent the whole day going from one office building, going to the very top floor and knocking on every door there, going to the next floor down and repeating the process until we had covered every office in the place. We were soliciting. In New York, that is illegal. Basically these people are whores. Worse than whores because they don't even realize it. By the end of the day I was trying to explain to my interviewer why his job sucked and I could tell that nothing I said had ever gone through his head before. Right now I'm working in a stock room and I can honestly say that I am making more money, with better hours than this guy could ever hope to have.
I also realized that even if it was just a fluke and I got stuck with a bad interviewer, which in itself would say something about the company, there were a lot of things that just don't add up. First of all, absolutely no part of this job involved being online. And yet right there in the title of the company is the word "Online". Also they have the name Universal, which to me makes me think of the film company of which they have absolutely no affiliation. I'm sure more than one person has sent them a resume foolishly making that assumption. And I don't blame them. It's what I thought when I saw the name. But lastly, nothing we did was promotional. It was selling. Door to door sales. I know they like to use fancy words like "Account Executive" but they're basically door-to-door salesmen. They say they represent companies like Verizon and Pepsi. I saw no evidence of this. In fact the only company I saw them selling for was a company called Quill, which is like a lowrent Staples. If you already run an office you don't need some punk coming around selling you office supplies. The whole thing is a scam. I even checked on their site and I could order directly from them the same things these guys are supposedly selling them at a bargain, for much cheaper. Bottom line, these guys are running a nationwide pyramid scheme. The idiots even know it looks like a pyramid scheme so they tell you it isn't. Not only should we all warn people against them but we should report them to the Better Business Bureau, Consumer Reports and any other organization you can think off.
