I wish I had found this site before signing up for classes. I need two classes to have my degree in business and in the ninth week I find that I have been dropped from my IT class based on my "attendence." I had posted on Jan 30, 31 and Feb 1 but according to them they can only find that I had posted on the 30th and they want their money asap. Money doesnt grow on trees around my house and my academic counselor and financial counselor are complete fools and think that they are right and everyone else is wrong. I can't even go online to go back in my class and do a print out of where I checked in for that class. I wish that I had known about this site beforehand because I never would have signed up for classes with them. This has become a disaster and I don't know where to turn. I would like to file suit and go on from there.

University of PHoenix worthy of lawsuit

AUTHOR: Alli - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, April 20, 2010

I just posted my report against them on the 4/20 yesterday.  My name is Alli and I also would like to file a class action against them.

If there's anyone out there who would like to join us and get this ball going, I would love to be a part.

This so called University is out of control and are taking advantage of the public without a care.  Money is their only perrogative at al expense.

I am responding to someone's report, they terminated me four weeks before graduation.  I was in attendance for 3 long years and you should read my story, it's unbelievable what they've done.

My brother had the same experience.

AUTHOR: Joe - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, April 13, 2010

My brother signed up with Phoenix a few years ago but never graduated. He never really said why for awhile. It turned out he got severely ripped off and was ashamed to talk about it. They really took his money and ran with it.

My advice to everyone out there is to only sign up for online classes through a post-secondary college. Besides, even if you got through Phoenix college, most businesses would laugh at the degree.

DONT WASTE YOUR TIME.

#4 UPDATE EX-employee responds

These are all soooo stupid!

AUTHOR: Cbrooks - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, February 25, 2009

Every time you talk to someone at the University it is written into your file at the university in a database, every time you receive an e-mail or phone call, even a voice message. Every time, you send an e-mail, or call or leave a voicemail, it is put into the system. Every time you miss attendance, it is recorded and overtime you do make attendance it is recorded. (it's called keeping you accountable, and being about the tell the REAL story) No one on this site complaining has any grounds to sue on, and no lawyer in there right mind would take any of these cases, not only because they are completely stupid, but because Apollo Group, who owns the University has a HUGE TEAM OF LAWYERS, who would rip your case apart in about 30 seconds. In fact, anyone who could see the notes that are written on you would be able to because they are so detailed. A company of this size could never be just scamming people this often, and everyone of these has been everyone's fault that is complaining, because there are rules and guidelines that the employees of UOP have to follow, and UOP has to answer to the department of education, who can take away UOP's accreditation.

p.s. while you all were going through the Apply Web and the FAW everything that you are complaining about is written in there, you have the option of reading everything that you sign, it is called a contract, and it is legally binding.

#3 UPDATE Employee

Everything is recorded on the website (OLS)

Simply put, how else can attendance be taken if not by how many times you post on different days. It wouldn't make sense to do it by login time because people would simply log in and let it go. The VERY simple and uncomplicated rule for attendance is that you have to participate in class by posting some sort of message ANYwhere in your class forum on 2 separate days.

Filing suit for something that is your own fault is not only groundless, but also defamatory. You'll get laughed out of court. The reasoning for this attendance structure is to make sure there are clear records that your are participating in class and sticking with the course plan. You have to stick to the Dept. of Ed's requirements for the amount of coursework you actually do, and it needs to be documented on the system.

Here's a common mistake: creating a new message or post, typing everything out and clicking "save draft." Just like an email, a draft will be saved, but this does not actually post the message to any forum.

For the person wanting to withdraw, the correct form is in the FAW site that is accessible only to students, not staff. You need to find it on your own as one of your responsibilities as a student.

All of these negative reports makes me wonder....

AUTHOR: Jenjen - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, December 11, 2008

....was enrolling at Axia the right thing for me to do? I've been in classes since October and feel that their whole "attendance" policy is horses--t. I received an email just the other day saying that I was not in attendance for the week, even though I know for a fact I posted my assignments ON TIME and responded to class discussions. I have recently decided to just drop my enrollment altogether, so after countless voice mails and emails to my academic advisor letting her know of this I have had NO response. Guess they're waiting on new classes to start so they can get that check. I honestly don't know what to do because I want to be fully withdrawn BEFORE new classes start next month so I won't be held liable for them. I fully understand I will have to pay back the money lent to me for the classes I'm currently enrolled in, but the academic advisor needs to get back to me on withdrawing ASAP. If anyone out there has any suggestions on how to get ahold of SOMEONE that can help me with this, please let me know. I hate to say I've learned the hard way on this, but I have. From now on, I'm hitting my local community college if I want my degree.

Right before my financial aid was processed, so they can recharge you for that one class again. They dropped me from Gen 105 But I'm withdrawing and I'm changing all my info if they do anything else that is unlawful or unlegal I'm contacting Federal the best thing to do is leave it along and get your refund if you have one due.
