UNIWAY Of Charleston bounced checks Ripoff North Charleston South Carolina

We have had a UNIWAY account for 7 years. In the past we have ordered over $50k in merchandise to furnish several rental homes and order many things for our house. We had never had a problem and were very pleased with the amounts we had saved. Then in September of 2005 we ordered some furniture from them. Three complete bedroom sets and office furniture. Total was around $3k. it was to be deliverd within 8 weeks. After the 8 weeks passed by we started calling to see when it would be in. For the next 7 months we kept hearing that it was on back order, being shipped from the distributor, went to the wrong place, or whatever other lie they could come up with that day. The bedroom furniture finally arrived after six months and one complete bedroom set was damaged. It was returned to Fed Ex and they issued a check to Uniway to cover the furniture. Also in December of 2005 we ordered a Rolex watch. It too was to take 4 weeks to be shipped. Got all the same excuses as the furniture. After 3 months we cancelled the watch order and asked for a refund. UNIWAY now had 8k of our money and another 1500 from FED-EX and all we had was some furniture. After much haggling they said we could pick up the checks for the refunds and FED-EX payment. We picked the three checks up and deposited them. One week later they were all returned NSF. When we called them the manager said that he knew about it but that they were written out of the wrong account. Then he said that an employee was stealing from them and that's why there was no money. They then issued certified funds for the 3k and split the 5k for the Rolex into two payments.

If you are having problems with them I would suggest you try everything in your power to get your money back. Definitely do not order anything else. It seems they are robbing current customers to pay past customers and will eventually close. I was very disappointed and will do everything in my power to let everyone I can to stay away from these sorry SOB's.
