Upland Mortgage Company is a scam. Will not release payoff information to customers. Bala Cynwyd Pennsylvania

While in the process of refinancing my mortgage, I was contacted by the title company who stated that Upland would not release payoff information to third parties, and that I had to personally make the call to obtain the information. OK, fair enough. My surprise came when I called the company, and they refused to give the information to ME, the homeowner. I was told that if I liked, I could submit, by mail, a formal, written request with original signatures. They do not accept, nor send faxes. And since they are so busy, it will take approximately 10 business days to process my request.

When I informed them that my closing was in less than a week and that all I needed was the figure, I was told, "well, I guess you won't be closing then". That is a direct quote. How's that for outstanding customer service?!

I contacted the NJ Commission of Banking and Insurance and was told by an investigator that information cannot be withheld from a consumer regarding their own account, and that they suspected that it was merely a ploy to hold things up while they attempted to get me to refinance with them. Sure enough when I got home there were two messages on my answering machine wanting to discuss how they can help me with my refinancing needs. Both the title company and new mortgage company have never, ever had this happen with any other company they have dealt with in the past.

I would seriously advise anyone considering using this company to move to the next one on your list. My closing will not happen when it is scheduled to because of this scam of a company. Upland, if you read this complaint, I will tell everyone that I know that this is how you do business. I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and anywhere else a complaint can be filed. Future buyers, please beware.
