I know I bought a used car but give me a break. The head gasket is a problem that takes a while to go out and mine blew ten days after owning it. I feel they knew about it and didn't tell me. What would have happened if i was on the free way and my motor would have blown up going 65 with my wife and three kids in the car?
I have contacted the company and they said they'd split the difference in labor by taking off $300 from what I owe. I told the salesperson I'd have to talk to my wife and get back with him. He went ahead and credited my account anyway without consulting it over with me. We are a one income family of 5 and now I have to come up with around $1000 for parts and labor to fix the van... where am I gonna come up with that.
Another problem is i signed two contracts stating the same thing with in seven days of each other. Why did i have to do that?
I know I am only wishing for something to come of this, all I want is the van fixed, and to see this company not do this again to someone else. My family and I could have been seriously hurt or killed by what happened. I am glad it happened in town and not on our way to a grandmothers house around 150 miles away in the middle of nowhere and in below 0 temperatures.
I hope that this complaint will help me in anyway especially in fixing my only vehicle. If anyone has any info I can use to get anything done about this please rebut.
I have also contacted an attorney, the BBB of Illinois, and I'm in the process of filing a complaint with the Attorney General of Illinois to see if they can help us.

It doesn't "take a while," it just goes when it goes. If you buy cars that are on their last legs, from dealers that buy them at used car auctions, it's a crapshoot. The cars are usually high-milage beaters, repaired wrecks, flood cars, abused re-pos, stolen & recovered, doctored-up junkers, etc. Almost none are in good shape, hence the term "USED."
The dealer cleans them up and tries to make a profit on them. He is taking a chance that the vehicle will sell, that's it. NO warranty. The car I've driven for the last four years, I bought at auction for eight dollars and fifty cents. I lucked out. Some $25 cars make you money and last, some cars go for 5 grand and are junk and the dealer loses.
Thinking that the dealer or anyone else has any idea of how long a head gasket will last is just crazy. As far as the family situation, that's a personal problem, the dealer didn't make those five kids or choose your life-style. My advice: stay away from dealers altogether, unless you're a mechanic.
