I moved into Urban style flats, never really taking a close look. Once I moved in the depth of my mistake became apparent. One there is "NO" parking i mean (none) at all they don't have a useable parking lot. Something that may seem not that big of a deal. every resident here has gotten towed at least 4-5 times (please ask them if you make the mistake of coming here) . Who wants to drive around for an hour looking for parking with groceries in the car, then carry them a mile. They tell you that they have parking in the back lot when you sign your lease, this is a huge lie!! the waiting list for the small back lot is almost a 1 year no one stays here after a year so you will never get to.  When you have guest they will get towed as well, there is nowhere for them to park at all. Let say your having friends over, it always a huge inconvenience trying to find them parking.

The Ray game, a one mile radius is blocked off you can barely make it to the surrounding 5 blocks all the cross streets have barricades. there are about 100 home game that spread throughout the summer over half the year so you WILL have to walk blocks just to get to your apartment, and and you will have to move your car every two Hrs because there isn't any long term spaces nearby.

My first day - My apartment was filthy the grout in the bathroom was brown the shower still had hard water stains on the tile. The tub was orange from rust all the pipe in this building are from the 60's so the water comes our rusty and orange (including drinking water). I could go on about how when you get out of the shower, you feel like you have a layer of residue all over and your hair gross, but plan on buying all of your drinking water, you won't want to clean your dishes much less drink the stuff.

This please is ghetto and unsafe i literally carried a knife for a while, just to walk the dog.  there are homeless people wondering the halls checking for unlocked doors, hood rats in the gym with dread and shirtless sweating all over the machines. When you walk the halls is smells of dog urine and weed. there is always homeless people and your neighborhood hood rat trying to con you out of something as you hit the sidewalk.

The air-conditioning HAHAHA if you can call it that. In the middle of summer don't think for a second these little crappy window units will keep your place cool.  you will get home from a long day at work and your place will be 85 degrees. The sound emitted from the unit is 92 decibels I measured it from my iPhone app this may not seem bad but wait until you want to watch TV, listen to the radio, relax in quite. there is a constant humming of the AC that never ever stops. Once the compressor kicks in it will wake you from your sleep. It make this place feel like a ran down motel not a place you want to live for any duration.

Urban style flats has asbestos, and mold. The tile which they paint over is asbestos tile and cracks under your feet, you will have to constantly sweep shards of it from your apartment. The mold comes from all the busted pipes over the year and unmaintained water leaks. Pipes bust here all the time when they extract them you can see how rusty and dilapidate they are. there is a constant smell on some of the floors the leaves you holding your noise for fear of unhealthy spores.

The elevator  they rarely work and everyone has a constant fear of getting locked in them. (THAT HAPPENS ONCE A WEEK) no joking. There are usually 2 working elevators throughout the year if your lucky. Two elevators for the entire ghetto community of thousands. It isn't uncommon to wait 7-8 min per elevator run due to over use. when the other two do open up usually only for a few days before someone gets stuck. there has been hundreds of request to fix and they just keep saying they are getting a new one. its been almost a years and it has become a common joke in the stairwells. If you visit i won't you to run up 7 flights of stair and back down and consider doing this several times a day. (I workout almost everyday of my life) buy by the time you find parking 1 mile away and carry groceries up 7 flight then back down to run errands what ever you have on is steeped in sweat.

I know what your thinking, this person is just upset, i wish this was just fleeting anger this is something I've had to live with for almost a year. I really wouldn't wish it one anyone. everything above is the honest truth and sadly not elaborated. I hope you make the right decision…

Nice Apartments and Great location

AUTHOR: newflresident - ()

POSTED: Sunday, December 29, 2013

I wanted to respond to the report on Urban Style Flats as my experience has been completely different.  I have lived here for 3 months.

While I have never possessed a driver's license, I am aware that parking is an issue when the Rays are at home - which is 81 home games a year.  New management has started construction on a garage next to the complex which will have 400+ spaces.  This should alleviate the issue.  I have had guests visit, and even stay the night, and there has never been an issue with them finding a space to park - just remember to obtain a guest pass first.  In any event, who needs a car anyway?  The location is close to downtown and there are multiple bus stops nearby.  I have no problem getting to work or completing my errands.

My apartment when I moved in was not dirty and I was happy with it is as; however, the rental office agent wanted it perfect and put in a request for a couple minor things to be done that I would have overlooked.  I have never had a problem with the water, and I only drink tap water.

I have never seen anyone in the complex who I thought didn't belong here, and, in fact, it's so quiet on my floor I often wonder if I do have neighbors.  I have never witnessed a homeless person roaming the halls trying to open doors.  Everyone I see appears to be a young professional or a student; but much to my surprise there is quite a diversity in the complex as to ages of tenants.  I have seen very young children (there are some 2-bedroom units) and adults who I will politely say are over 50.  There is nothing wrong with the neighborhood.  Since I walk almost everywhere, I walk the area a lot and have never been bothered by anyone.  Yes, there may be a homless person sitting on a bench but I have never been harassed.  Tell me what major city where you will not occasionally see a homeless person.  The neighborhood is fine.

The AC units can be noisy, but I can easily fall asleep to it - I used to run an air purifier at night in my old apt and those can be noisy as well.  My unit can get very cool, although I haven't been here for a full summer yet.  So far, electric bills have been low.

I haven't had any major issues with the elevators; occasionally you have to wait a few minutes for one, but remember this a community of well over 400 units.  The vast majority of the time the elevators are there within a minute or two.  If someone is moving in, it can be a longer and, yes, one may be out of service at times.  There are 4 elevators total so you can always go to another set if you have had a long wait.

I have been very pleased with my decision to live at Urban Style Flats, and I looked at many places in my search.  Rent includes satellite tv, internet, and a landline phone (which I had to chuckle at since I wondered if young people would know how to use one).  There is a gym, business center, game room, tv room, and soon there will be a restaurant in the complex.  Maintenance has responded quickly to my requests for service (for things I did, no fault of the complex).  If I had to find something to complain about, it would be that since the new management took over, I haven't been able to pay my rent online, and the concierge staff doesn't always notify me promptly when I have a package.  That's it.

One final comment - your experience here may differ depending on what tower you are in - the East Tower is 1 and 2 bedrooms with some units having a downtown view; the North Tower is all studios.  I am not familiar with the West Tower but some units face Tropiana field.  Higher floors may be more expensive, and a view of downtown may also cost more.
