My wife had day surgery or routine screening........The screening went well no issues.......  We paid the doctor our co pay, since this is classified as preventive no other money was due to the hospital, or doctors, etc........ Blue Croas Blue Shield paid for procedure and hospital...... A week passed and US Anesthesia. Partners of Texas has their handout and billing us for their part....... I called and spoke to the customer service and explained to them, this is preventive and is covered 100 percent.... They said they will resubmit with correct coding.......

Then I get another bill, now is stating 30-60 past due.... I called to see WTF......And now they are blackmailing me.... If I don't pay they will turn me over to collection agency...... I told them I got the explanation of benefits..... You got paid, don't bother me because you made a mistake with the insurance claim......

Then I get the third bill..... 60-90 past due...... That's it...... I called my insurance company to straighten this out, they never received a second claim, just the first claim...... And that is what they paid for.....They are making corrections to send to the US Anethesia. Partners of Texas..... I called them again to straighten it out...... I hope this is done....... Don't do business with these incompetent stooges........ Thank god my wife us ok...... But their elevator don't go to the top floors...... The man in charge is Kevin Patel MD.... His medical license is Q3417 ...... And I plan to file a complaint with Texas Board of Medicine..... Thanks for letting me rant.....

A common problem

AUTHOR: Lorenzo D. Magnificent - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, July 13, 2016

My wife was a cutomer service representative for a major health insurance company. This is a common problem.

Anesthesiologists almost never have a contract with an insurance carrier. They are free to charge what they wish and their services are independent from both your own doctor and from the hospital. Yes, it is a crock but that is just a fact of life.

Your insurance carrier paid the anesthesiologist their standard rate for out-of-network service providers. You are on the hook for the balance.  If this was to go to court, I would argue that you had no contract with the anesthesiologist because you did not hire him; your own doctor or the hospital hired him.  In either event, you were deprived of your opportunity to negotiate a deal or to shop around.
