I have been a member of America First Credit Union for a
long time and have always loved them! I used the U.S. Bank ATM because it was
with in walking distance of where I needed the cash. I walked out the door and
realized I didn't grab my card and when I walked back in the card had all ready
been sucked back into the ATM. I called the U.S. Bank customer service and told
them what had happened and they told me if I brought my I.D. in when the bank
re-opened in the morning I could get my card back. I came back when the bank
re-opened and they said they would destroy my card because it was not a U.S.
bank card. They said they had it but they would not give it back to me! I was
there for an hour with my screaming baby and they would not budge. I went to
America First Credit Union to order the the card again and they said that when
non- America First members get their cards stuck in their ATM machine they call
a number to verify the card is not fraudulent and then the card can be picked
up with I.D......

 U.S. Bank is sooooo
dumb. I was there with my I.D... I could prove who I was and my card was only
foot steps away and the jerks would not give it back! I will never bank there
and I will tell all of my friends and post this story all over the internet for
people to stay away from this stupid bank!!!!!!!!

fairly standard industry procedure

This is not something that just US bank does. The banks do this to protect themselves and you. Its a liability issue, and its easier to document the card's destruction than to verify your identity. Often banks will give the cards back to their own customers, these banks already have all the customer's personal information availible and an ID is easier to accomplish. At a foreign bank, this company has no way to ID you. They don't know any of your personal information and frankly, drivers licenses can be counterfieted. How would ypu feel if the bank gave your card to someone claiming to be you with god fake ID? Don't say it won't happen that way, because it does. A common scam by criminals is to get the card stuck in the machine and have someone watch you input your pin. The bank is just protecting you and themselves from potiential fraud.

Thanks for the reply... It makes me feel better knowing I'm not the only one who feels ripped off by them. I filed a federal report on them. I am so glad I am not a member of U.S. Bank. I feel bad for any one who is. I couldn't even use their ATM with out getting ripped off!

Because you're not THEIR customer, so they can't rip you off regularly.  So they had to take what they could get!

When they saw "Credit Union" on the card their blood boiled!

Good job gettin the word out!  449 REPORTS TODAY!

Be a shame if this atm got vandalized.  At least put a note saying "this atm WILL RIP YOU OFF!"
