Signd up for career training after reading about the guarantee to find a job in 6 months or get a refund of tiuition.

Completed training and did not find work. Asked for the refund and was told Idid not meet all the requirements. They hide the fact that you need to go online and complete some requirements that are not disclosed in writing.

This company has no active job recruitment services. You are on your own to find work.

I had to complain the BBB and the AG office of Colorado to get  a partial settlement.

Avoid this company. You are better off finding a local training site that offers to actually find you a job.

So most of the tuition has to be paid to qualify for the guarantee. Sounds like a way to get as much tuition paymenst as possibel .  There are many requirements to satisfy i order to get any refund. This all should have been put in writing  and not force the student to look online. I think this is done to make it more diffcult. The student is required to look for work on his/her own. The job hunt lessons were mostly useless.  It lead s the student to believe that it is easy to find work. The opposite is true. People would be better off going to a training center that offers active job placement services. USCI is passive.  I did not get the money that I did pay returned. I stand by my original complaint.

AUTHOR: Hampsonna - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, August 13, 2014

Thank you for bringing this issue to the attention of U.S. Career Institute.  Since the inception of U.S. Career Institute 30 years ago, we have provided our graduates with quality distance education written especially for the distance learner.  In an effort to be completely transparent with our policies and procedures, you’ll find the following verbiage on page 2 of the U.S. Career Institute enrollment agreement “Upon successful completion of my coursework and payment obligations, I will receive a certificate.  At that time I will be eligible for graduate support.”

The reference to graduate support is further discussed in the U.S. Career Institute Catalog on page 4 “As a leading institution specializing in preparing people for new careers, U.S. Career Institute has always had a strong commitment to the success of its students.  U.S. Career Institute provides its students with continuing employment instruction and advice.  This personal counseling includes training in job-search techniques, resume and letter writing, interviewing and presentation skills.  While graduate and career counseling is provided, it is understood that the school cannot promise or guarantee employment and does not provide placement services to any student or graduate.  In addition, prospective students, students, and graduates are expected to investigate licensing, certification or other professional requirements for their chosen profession.”

The complaint makes reference to “Get a job within 6 months or receive a tuition refund” refers to our Success Promise Program.  To qualify for the Success Promise Program, the following criteria must be met:

  1. Sign up for the Success Promise® Program within 30 days from initial enrollment.
  2. Graduate within 12 months or less from your enrollment date. Your final GPA must be

85% or higher to be eligible.

  1. Pay 50% of your tuition and remain current in payments prior to starting the Career

Development Strategies Course of the Success Promise® program.

  1. Complete all weekly Success Promise® Program activities by scheduled due dates.

The information for the Success Promise Program is posted on the student website at http://www.uscareerinstitute.edu/.

If you are still seeking employment in your new career field, please feel free to call Student Services to speak to a representative.  As a graduate of U.S. Career Institute, you are entitled to lifetime graduate support.  We look forward to hearing from you.

Regards~

U.S. Career Institute
