I received a letter about debt management. I called. Worst mistake of my life. I was lied to on every turn I was told my credit cards would be paid off in 3 years and it would not affect my credit rating at all. The lies I was told. 1. Credit cards not closed just frozen until they were paid off. (Not true all were closed) 2. Was told interest rates would be between 0-1.75%(not true rates were 6-9.9%) 3. I ask how much it would cost me was told $59 month (not true was never told I had to pay over &400 for a financial course had no clue what they were charging to my accounts before they were closed. I thought it was just $59 up front) 4. I ask if the money coming out of my account to pay could be split in 2 payments was told sure no problem (not true could only come out once a month) 5. Biggest problem was told as long as I paid my May payment that was all I had to do. (Not true the payments were not sent fr cornerstone until end of June made all my payments a month late. I immediately contacted Austin Alberghini and he assured me it was fine. Not now my credit score has dropped over 100 points)6 received a letter telling me I had to change my due dates I called Austin Alberghini and he assured me they would take care of it. Dos not happen. I had no idea what date to make the due date. I have contacted Austin and his boss the boss admitted I was told I was told incorrect information but refused to help me fix my problem. I have since my. Credit score dropped had 1 credit card close my account because of my now very bad rating and I siding not owe them a dime and another teduced my line of credit I could not even get my gas service turned in because of this problem.

I Agree!! USEFS must be stopped!

AUTHOR: Lissa - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, June 01, 2017

These deceptive practices must be stopped!  I had the same experience and was told I was talking to Freedom Debt Relief not USEFS!

When I entered the Freedom Debt Relief program, I thought I was talking to a representative of Freedom Debt Relief, Mike Weaver.  The program and documents signed were from Mike Weaver on Freedom Debt Relief (appeared to be) letterhead.  I was told by Mike Weaver that I was required to enter credit counseling in order to participate in the Freedom Debt Relief program.  This is absolutely false as I have learned from actual Freedom Debt Relief representatives.

Mike Weaver actually worked for US Educational Financial Solutions Inc. (USEFS).  It was their program that he said I had to enroll in and pay for in order to participate in the Freedom Debt Relief program at an initial cost of $149.00 for educational materials and $29.00 per month for counseling by phone 1 time per month.  I have paid approximately $381.00 to USEFS and called today to see how much longer I was required to do this.  I was told by Freedom Debt Relief that it was not required and that they had never heard of this.

I was connected to USEFS , Mike Weaver’s voicemail, by a Freedom Debt Relief representative (very helpful person)  and the call was dropped.  I called USEFS back and discovered Mike Weaver no longer works there and was told that I had to speak to a manager, Dave, to discuss the cancellation of my account.  He got on the phone and immediately said he had another call from overseas and had to call me back in 5 minutes and hung up.  I waited and did not get a call so I called again and was told that only Brian or Dave could help me and they were both busy.

Dave did call me and was extremely rude telling me that the credit counseling was required to have Mike Weaver enroll me in the Freedom Debt Relief program.  It is the “fee” that entity (wholesaler) charges even though I thought I was talking to Freedom Debt, in order to process my debt resolution agreement.  He further told me that I needed the counseling “you have quite an attitude for someone who has $50,000 in debt and now is not paying it back. How can you complain about $29 a month”.  The conversation went from bad to worse and I was told to fax a hand written cancellation to 1-888-669-9711 for my account . The copies and fax receipt are attached.

I now realize that Freedom Debt Relief has nothing to do with this account however, it is important to note that I was told I was dealing with Freedom Debt initially and that the counseling education was required for your program, which as I stated included an initial charge of $149.00 and $29 per month totaling $381 to date.

My reason for sending this is that I believe Freedom Debt Relief to be a highly reputable company but you should know that companies like USEFS are misrepresenting you and fraudulently charging for services that are not required.   I have attached the cancellation request as well as the cover page from Mike Weaver for my agreement with Freedom Debt Relief.
