To make a long story short;

I live in Florida and arranged to have a moving company ship my mothers furniture from CT to FL. She is emotionally and physically distressed over this and is receiving medical treatment for it. She has been sleeping on the floor since May 1st, 2010. I was given a binding quote of $1571.00 and then after the furniture was taken and put in their storage, they added an additional $800 of which I could not afford and they couls not simply explain. Lots of twists & turns. I then asked how much would they charge for the work already done. I was sent an email of $988.00 without a detailed invoice which I requested numerous times explaining mileage, gas, tolls etc. They refused. I then agreed to pay the $988.00 but now they INSIST I relinquish my rights as a consumer before releasing my furniure. They want me to sign all these documents stating I will not sue them in the future or file any complaints. I refused to due so. They are now holding my furniture and will not release it even if I pay, which I explained I have NO problem doing. They know I live in Florida and I'm resposible for the whole move financially but now they are threatening to sue my my Mom which is totally uncalled for. From the start, i let Abby, John and Michael know I was the one they should deal with financially. They are now threatening to sell my goods even though I am willing to pay. I only owe them that but as a consumer, I have the right to sue if I disputed the charges from the start. (Full emails to prove so.)

Although I am afraid of retaliation because of the way they do business, this is a way for me to expose how they work. They never suggested any other options other that TO JUST PAY!!!  Just be careful and for the future. Have any moving company explain in full detail how they will bill you before they load your furniture!!!!!
