US Express - USX Wrongfully Terminated. "Dead Wrong" Chattanooga Tennesee

This is for the rookie truck driver entertering the trucking industry. I am a ten year vet. I worked for US Express for four straight months without any problems until I was terminated February 7, 2008. Well i'm the "Feed Me Loads" type of driver that stayed out on the road 1 month with no home time. When out one month I was required four days off (company policy). Well just when my home time was over I got a call that my grandmother had passed away. I immediately contacted my fleet manager, wrote a statement in the driver tech and put the request in for three more days off to grieve. My fleet manager told me to go ahead it was okay. He also told me if i'm not back to clean out my truck. What for I asked? He said that the company can't allow 7 days off even in the event of an emergency. I've never heard something like that on any job. "That's not in the policy". After my three days was over I went back to work only to find out that they sent a driver to pick up my truck. When I called the company my fleet manager excuse was he has 60+ drivers to concentrate on one problem then hung up the phone in my face. So I called the company back for a chain of command to someone that can help. I was thrown extension to extension back to my fleetmanager's extension. When I spoke to him this time he said that they are charging me $500.00 for a truck abandonment and will report it to DAC/USIS. I requested a copy and it's not on my record yet, but as soon as it does I will hire a lawer to dispute it the right way. To all the rookies, Pick the right company for you. Trucking can be a very good job if you and your dispatcher communicate. I communicated and was still terminated. I guess that's the way it is in the Trucking Industry.
