I started going to the Post Office located at 9130 Markville Drive, in Dallas, TX about seven months ago. The agents at that postal facility were the rudest, unhappiest looking agents I had ever seen. They did  not seem to enjoy working with people and one agent in particular stood out. His name is Mark Pound. Mark Pound was the most "openly hostile" white man I had ever met, and that says a LOT since I am in Texas.

Right off, Mr. Pound was rude and very snarky. He seemed to take a particular displeasure in me everytime I entered the post office. He was so open about his disdain I would look around to see if anyone else could see his facial expressions or the way he would flick his hand in my face telling me to move on. This guy was particularly "NASTY" but no other post office worker would pay attention and honestly I don't think they cared.

I complained to his manager several times and nothing has been done. The Post Office is going out of business and is currently having to beg Congress for money just to stay "afloat" and they don't seem to understand that their customer service is so bad that it is driving customers away. Waiting in line for what seems like an eternity  is not bad enough. Their obviously miserable agent Mark Pound had to find another way to make the experience of going to the post office even more horrific than what it normally is.

However, today Mr. Pound called me out of my name when he referred to me under his breath as a "Ni**er". I know the word "Ni**er"when I hear it, no matter how inaudible the person tries to make it. I have heard that most hurtful word many times in my life growing up in the Mississippi Delta.I have heard that word IN PERSON to MY FACE and on news programs and while watching movies.

Mr. Pound, a most ignorant and hatefull fellow, referred to me as "Ni**er" when I came into the post office to cash a $200.00 money order. The woman to the side of him stated she did not have the money. She asked Mark Pound if he had the money and without looking up to see me he loudly stated "yes!". When I moved over to his register and he looked up and saw me he suddenly flicked his hand in my face and stated "Oh, I don't have it. I only have $180.00". He said this so quick without even looking at his register or computer. He then stated "Go Somewhere Else".  I stepped back for a minute in shock. I told him I didn't believe him. He then muttered "Go away Ni**er" and I heard him.

I requested to see the manager and Mr. Tracoma Willis stated he was the manager and asked me what was going on. As I started to explain what was going on, his body language and facial expressions were such that he appeared to not care at all. He had the look of "Will you just leave" on his face. He didn't even give the "impression" that he cared about what had just happened.

Finally, I had to ask him, as he stood motionless and quiet, not saying a thing after I finished speaking, leaving me at a loss for words as to his behavior, if he would go and check the register of Mr. Mark Pound. He stated "Well, if he says he doesn't have it, then he doesn't have it". He didn't even care or seem to understand anything at all I had just stated.

I asked him again if he would check the register because I felt that if Mr. Pound would lie about something like what he had in his register as I believe he did this was a serious character flaw and just plain wrong to treat a customer like that. I told Mr. Willis it sounded like Mr. Pound had referred to me under his breath as a "Ni**er". I told him that word is unmistakeable, especially when someone says "go away "n****r". Mr. Willis still was expressionless and didn't seem to fully comprehend what I was saying or even care.

He then blurted out,Well, I'll go and check his register and he turned and walked a few feet down in front of me towards Mr. Mark Pound and he blurted out "Do you have $200.00 dollars in your register"? without even checking and Mr. Pound of course responded "no" and then he suddenly turned and stated loudly "Well, that's all I need to hear" flinging his hand over his shoulder in a motion that would have suggested to Mr. Pound "Sorry to bother you". WTF?

I had waited in line for over an hour and this is how I was treated? This post office and their staff SUCKS! My Bank is on the other side of town and one of the postal ladies was telling me in a rude and snide sort of way "You do know you can go to your bank don't you" and she repeated it several times until I stated my bank was a drive from me and I didn't think it would be such a problem to ask the post office to cash a postal money order. After all, it "is" a postal money order.

I called Consumer Affairs at 972-393-6755 and waited over 40 minutes on hold for someone to pick up. Then I just hung up. I throw in the towel.

To those who come across this message... Avoid the post office at 9130 Markville Drive,Dallas, TX 75243 if you are black. I wouldn't want what just happened to me to happen to you.

Postal Employees Are Difficult to Fire, And Have Cozy Relationships with their Bosses..

AUTHOR: PinkyMeen - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, November 22, 2012

I agree with this report. My cousin and I went into a post office in South Dallas and the man behind the counter was rude, and ended up shouting and yelling at us when we brought his rudeness to his attention. No one did a thing. Not one darn thing.

Postal Employees are hard to terminate from what I've been told. This is one of the reasons they are losing so much business. People are getting fed up. I can't believe these other commenters expressing such disbelief at someone getting disrespected and yelled at by a postal employee. I mean, after all, that is what the post office is known for. Having God Awful Customer Service.

Dallas is a city with some overt, and at times right below the surface racism. I have heard the word n****r here and "Silverback Gorilla" when whites are referring to blacks. So I believe that this man most likely used the term you said he used.

Good Luck. I hope that Jerk Gets terminated.

I've Gone into that Post Office Before.. That Guy, Mark Pound, Is really nasty for sure...

AUTHOR: Urban Fan - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, November 22, 2012

On occasion I have done business with the post office off of 9130 Markville Dr. in Dallas and I agree that white guy is really nasty. There is only one white guy there and he usually works at the very end. On several occasions he has been really rude with me too. That is why I stopped going there.

Don't pay any attention to these naysayers who are attacking you for exercising your free speech. I agree with every word you stated about this situation because I know Dallas and I know how the postal employees are in general, especially that nasty white guy you referenced.

Thanks for speaking out. More people need to speak out as well. :-)

Mark Pound AND his manager Tracoma Willis SHOULD BOTH BE FIRED.

If Their Service Was So Great They Wouldn't Be Losing Billions Every Month..Hmmm...Tells You Something Doesn't It?

AUTHOR: B. Garrett - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, November 22, 2012

I certainly have had many different experiences than you with the Post Office throughout the years. Although there are many fine people that work there, let's be frank and honest and realize that the post office has more than their fair share of assholes. I have come across quite a few.

I've been cursed, seen other people cursed, and I was in a post office twice where one of the postal agents grew irate and threatened customers.

I wish my experience, and millions of others like me, was out of the norm.. But it's not.

The hurtful thing about my experience is that I was called a term used historically to disrespect black people. White people will never know or understand how that term cuts deep. That is why the comments are coming from what I gather to be mostly white people saying Lie, Lie. They would say Lie, Lie even if someone was burning a cross outside the place. They refuse to accept that bigotry and hatred still exists.

The internet is the most powerful tool the vulnerable have against those who choose to abuse their authority or abuse others. Mark Pound felt I was voiceless. His manager Tracoma Willis reinforced this message when he casually dismissed my complaint.

May what he did to me, in all of its hatefulness and ugliness, live on forever online. I will no longer roll over and accept being mistreated just because I am BLACK anymore. My money is just as good as the next man's.

I don't buy it as written

AUTHOR: Ramjet - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, November 22, 2012

Perhaps there is a grain of a story here but I bet it's greatly embellished.

I have been dealing with the Post Office in various scenarios for over 60 years and have never been treated poorly.

Sending them a copy of your report is a good thing if you are indeed correct.  Don't expect them to respond on this forum and get in a pissing match with you though.

You couldn't be more wrong, I don't work for them, NEVER have...

AUTHOR: Ken - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, November 21, 2012

I have been retired for some time from a totally unrelated field.

It doesn't matter much to me, one way or the other, whether you believe it or not.

I ALWAYS like to hear all sides to a story, not just your improbable one.

IF, you're telling the whole truth, this may help you, IF not, hopefully we'll learn about that too. BTW, your allegation that I work for, or know someone that works for USPS, makes over 40 different companies I've been accused of working for here on Riporr Report.

Have a nice day.

Only a "postal employee" would attack me for telling about my experience...

AUTHOR: B. Garrett - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, November 21, 2012

Ken, I knew it wouldn't be long before a postal employee (or someone related to a postal employee) would be on this board attacking me for speaking about the horrific experience I had at this post office. Ken, while you are attacking me and calling my story "improbable" why don't you google the complaint history of the post office and you will find my complaint is just one of millions. Will you attack the millions of others who filed complaints as well? It would take you your entire lifetime as there are so many.

This is just a report I "Chose" to put online. I have been cursed by postal employees in the past and my mail lost on DOZENS  of occassions before I went ahead and purchased a box at UPS. My complaint is very much REAL. I am bewildered that you would call my complaint improbable especially given the way the Post Office has EARNED such a bad reputation from so many people throughout this country. There is a reason the Post Office is begging Congress for money and losing Billions as I type this..

It's because of incidents like what I wrote about that are happening ALL OVER THIS COUNTRY.

I have no reason to lie on what happened to me and you should not try to stymy free speech by attacking me for TELLING THE WORLD I was referred to an a derogatory, racist manner.

Attacking me won't save your job "Ken" or the the rest of the Postal Employees who ABUSE customers like me DAILY.

Thank God for Free Speech.. We have to hold our institutions ACCOUNTABLE. And that includes the Postal Service.
